I've convinced myself again haha

Well, I’ve done it again. I’ve spent so much time thinking about something that I’ve convinced myself. So I’d invite anyone to present a strong opposing argument.

Bard will be the next class added.

It is a class strongly connected to RPG’s historically. And for the longest time I’d hear rumblings that it was thought to be a support class issue. Meaning there didn’t appear to be a place for support class with how limited group space already is. Then we got Aug and they proved to themselves a support spec is possible. The logical next step is expand that into a full class.

It is a class that has been called for by players at various points through the games history. So, it is a class a decent number of players would try.

As mentioned earlier, Aug has bent the mentality towards building a group. Now, it doesn’t seem to scary to bring a support character if they can do some damage too. Because the value of everyone else getting a running boost has been identified as invaluable.

And, the cherry on top for me that I realized today… After days of basically non stop focus on this one topic… The Radiant Song is a huge part of this saga. Literally a saga with a focus on music of some kind.

So I guess to TLDR this sucker, Bard is a class connected to the genre that has been called for by players in the past. Support Specs are popular but we risk them going stale with only one option for it. And a music based class being introduced in a saga dealing with a Radiant Song from the planet.

And, because I try to think of as many angles as possible, we have three specs for the class full DPS support similar to current Aug, Full Support DPS meaning focus on support more than damage similar to Disc healing. And healing support songs that invigorate allies and restore health through Hot’s with lingering buffs after expiration. But no matter how it’s designed, it must be true to what a Bard is. Someone who thinks themselves incredibly sexy, charismatic and loves to hear themselves talk and sing.

I hope they add Bard but it’s role is DPS instead of support like it should be.

I just wanna watch the world burn like 10.1.5 again.

I also hope none of its hooks work properly to logs so you never know what you’re really contributing.

I’ll tell you why Bard wont ever be a WoW class.
It’s too main-stream. Not hip enough for a 2024 WoW class.

It wouldn’t be Bard. It would be Cosmic Conductor, Titan Trumpeter, Cow Beller (playable by Taurens only).

Also I don’t think Support specs have been successful. Trying to balance the game around it has been a nightmare. There’s an Aug in every group, meanwhile Dev Evoker went from decently popular to a dead spec once Aug released.

I think they would need to officially add the “support” role in the queues at that point. Otherwise how do you deal with a case where an Aug and a Bard join the same group?

And I really really don’t want to add an extra role to the queues, unless it is entirely optional or can be easily substituted with a DPS. It’s already hard enough to queue as DPS, without requireing Healer, Tank and Support.

I can’t see Bard, solo gameplay as a DPS. Get swarmed by multiple Murlocs, “I’ll show you what I learned at band camp, where my flute goes!” Then dead.

Should be a secondary profession, imagine an Orc Warrior singing Orinoco Flow (Enya) while playing an electric guitar.

Bard doesnt fit in to the world of WarCraft.

Hasnt in the past
Doesnt in the present
Wont really in the future

Lyrical pranksters dont belong

Yeah, 'cause in WoW they don’t know how to sing or play instruments. It would be remarkably stupid idea to have in a fantasy setting. Like magic notes? Hah, lmao, no.

Oh, if someone didn’t understand here is your Reddit /s

there is nothing stopping the devs from making bards other than the effort required. it might be awkward to have more support specs / a dedicated support class though. It was certainly fun and entertaining in Everquest 2 though as a Dirge/Troubadour with the buffs and debuffs and stuff.

Because in WoW their lore isn’t passed on by Bards. Bards just do not have a place. They do not fit in

They could, there are few bards in the game. Regardless, it’s bit funny that they couldn’t release new stuff. Originally Jailer wasn’t a thing, but here we are.

If people liked Aug, I think Bard would have been likely. But I don’t see them doing another support spec and I don’t think there’s any reasonable way you’d do a bard and not include a support spec.

Who made this claim?

I think if any MMO (that doesn’t already have it) was going to add bard, it’d fit in WoW the most… but if this is going off of that info about the speculated upcoming classes, then I’d much prefer the witch one. I guess I’d be a little happy with bard if they gave them the ability to use bows though. I’m tired of hunters being the only class with legitimate access to them.

How would they accomplish any solo content? They’d be utterly worthless for delves and would struggle leveling.

Indirectly you, duh?

Best to just to wait and see what they do because it will NEVER be what ever you cook up in your expectation addled brain. And you will just end up mad and ranting about how blizzard lies.

Theyve practically promised it already!

Dps/support/healer like evoker. Could work. And it could be wow rock/metal themed rather then typical folsky bard.
