Dynamic layering from zone to zone is sharding and its done in retail
when i say “you” i mean the collective you, not you specifically. i’m sorry if you think i meant you you. was never my intention.
and won’t be seen in classic.
The amount of times you speak in absolutes with authority you don’t possess is astounding and shuts down all conversation. I suggest stopping that.
that’s straight from blizzard though.
Because they have NEVER told us something that was not true, and have never reversed decisions before. That may be from Blizzard, but you don’t have the kind of authority to speak for them.
Instead of saying “Blizzard’s plan currently is to get rid of it in Phase 2” you say “come phase 2 it’s removed either way, enjoy it while you can.”
It shuts down conversation because if nothing has changed by the time phase 2 comes around there could be the very real possibility that it DOESN’T go away. Because their current plan is for Phase 2 to be the point at which realm population and game popularity has settled and the tourists are gone. What if there are far far less “tourists” than initially anticipated and WoW Classic remains vastly more popular than they expected?
People like to criticize Blizzard for sharding and layering in the past as the death of wow, but we saw first hand on launch of Classic what it would have looked like if they never did that, and how destructive it would have been to the game. I’m not exactly happy we have to have discussions like these, but I will ALWAYS side with the decision that allows me to play the game. Especially when I pay monthly for it. It’s one thing to say bring back massive queues and terrible overcrowding when it’s a free game, it’s another when I have to pay for access.
You’re also only seeing a fraction of the folks who are leveling in various zones. I appreciate the lack of zone crowding, personally!
Yes, this is correct and confirmed by blizz devs
It’s gone in phase 2, so.
Good to know?
I have trouble fighting over mobs even with layering. And grouping up just means we have to kill 2-3 times the amount of mobs to get the drops we need. I’m 100% fine not seeing everyone at once.
Yeah! Remove layering so everyone can complain about their 30,000 queues instead!
Or, you’re seeing all of them. The other layers might have zero people in IF. You have no way of knowing.
You dont know that you all fit. IF you all fit, there would be ZERO layers. Remember that layering doesnt kick in until the zones would be more full than a Vanilla server.
If they shut off layering right now, any highly populated zone would be unplayable. Even with Classic being less resource intensive in a lot of ways, it is EXACTLY as limited as retail in that it is limited by draw calls.
If you had 300+ people around you, the game would be crippled. Enjoy that slideshow.
Honestly I’m ready for some mega-server like madness. I walked through Ashenvale for the first time and wasn’t even ganked once…kinda disappointed.
