In my 14 years of playing I can’t recall once it being called VC.

I played from the very begining, well, didn’t play as the servers were never up, but in all my time on Cenarion circle it was never refered to as DM, it was always VC. I think the few people who said it depends on your server. I never saw it refered to as DM til I went on other servers to follow friends.
No one referred to dire maul as merely “DM.”
It was always diremaul north, west, or east.

I mean, I feel like we’ve clearly established, just in this thread alone, that not every Vanilla player did from 2005-2006, and that it was almost certainly a server specific thing.
Repeat after me: There was never a community wide agreement regarding the name of Deadmines when asking in LFM. Any such belief in a community wide agreement is my own bias, based on my own experiences, that I am projecting on others.
Repeat as necessary until it sinks in that it doesn’t matter at all whether you call it VC or DM, if it’s in Westfall/the player is around 17-20 then it’s Deadmines, if it’s in Feralas/East/North/Trib/54+ (or a warlock asking for help with the Dreadsteed quest) then it was Diremaul.

Kinda feels like acknowledging that s.o.b. that keeps dropping Tenderizers instead of the wand is just asking for more of the former and less of the latter to drop…lol.

It got the title of VC in classic by people who played classic.
Calling it DM is wrong. Literally no one called it DM after there was an end game DM was released and no one is going to know what dungeon you’re spamming for.
Different servers had different names I guess? I don’t recall anyone spamming dm for dire maul since you had to specify what wing as well.
