It’s a big world. Distance should matter.
Flight paths is slower than both styles of flying mounts. You could have used a regular flying mount to get to where you want to go while still afking.
There is no need to even rant about flight paths when two options, especially dragon riding, is superior for traveling
To be fair, there are some pretty glaring issues with a lot of the FP’s. Namely the ones that do inexplicable loopdy loops and switch backs in mop, cata and vanilla zones.

And the OP is asking for changes to flightpaths. He’s not making this into some dynamic vs static flying thing, nor complaining. It’s an idea for flightpaths.
There’s no excuse to insult someone over an idea that was presented in a constructive way.

Valdrakken → Zaralek Caverns.
The only FP I still use consistently.
And very rarely when going from a very low altitude to another zone and I don’t want to bother with the annoyance of DR.
It’s also good when you need to AFK unsupervised, since AFK flying like that led me to many Fatigue deaths over the years.

Negative. You clearly don’t have an actual life where you can be pulled away by other sources. With a flightpath, you will be on a set place when you return. Even if you took 30min longer. Your suggested method, I’d be on a different planet.

They’re supposed to be slow.
It’s a scenic automatic ride you can use to see the world/bio/grab food/smoke etc. I hope it stays the same pace as it always has. It doesn’t need to change just because you’re too lazy to fly at 800% speed yourself instead of it being done automatically for you.
Me: “oh man my stomach really hurting after lunch earlier, too much spices, gotta really go to the bathroom”
Stops regular flying mount and hover in the air AFK
Me: “oh man my favorite streamer is doing something really fun and amazing right now and it’s great content! I need to alt tab/watch my 2nd monitor”

This has been answered. But to answer it again:
- Going afk.
- Sometimes the distance is long enough that you can just alt-tab to something else.
- Some people don’t want to participate in dynamic flight. Like, at all. They prefer TBC flying and always will.
- Sometimes even people who like dynamic flight still need to give their hands a break and a FP is a perfect opportunity.
- The incredibly awkward zones transitions (i’m looking at you, ZC) that pretty much make a FP far superior to trying to navigate using DF.
Probably other stuff I’m forgetting.

I don’t really care about flight path speed, because I only ever use them when I’m going AFK anyways.

Yeah this is why I’ve never understood people who claim they “press numlock and AFK” on static flying.
Sounds like a good idea to get a fatigue death in an inconvenient place to me.
