Honestly this sounds kinda like a “tanks take long time to kill in PVP” type thread and falls under the “water: wet” category without a LOT more information from the OP, who basically gave ZERO reasoning as to HOW they are OP or what specifically could be changed.
Tank specs SHOULD take a long time to kill, that’s the point. Also if you stand there in their consecrate soaking their tank level damage, well…
Honestly I have played many tanks and bears and warriors both are capable of pumping out more raw damage, probably DK as well. Paladins are extremely reliant on high haste to avoid not just sitting there waiting for cooldowns and procs and have no meaningful, reliable burst outside long cooldowns. Burst is king in PVP.
They have one ability (Hand of the Protector) on a 15 second cooldown that was already nerfed to use the target’s missing health for scaling not the paladin’s, and they have to talent for it to be able to target and heal others (otherwise it is a self heal on a 20 second cooldown), next to their standard baby heal which drains mana after 5 casts and has a cast time.
Choosing Hand of the Protector means you can’t pick the talent that reduces your 20% reduced damage survival cooldown from 3min to 1.5min, your big 50% reduced damage cooldown from 5 to 3min, and your full self heal from 10min to 7min. Those are still REALLY long cooldowns to rely on in PVP.
I am not really sure what you would do to nerf them as their damage is on par with all other tanks spec’d for damage… Take away the talent that lets Hand of the Protector be used on others altogether?

This is coming from a Demon Hunter. There are only about six abilities, each with high cooldowns to do damage. Heals can hardly be used for for main spec, and paladins not the best tanks in the game.
I think what you’re really asking is for is for Demon Hunters to be better tanks, but they weren’t really designed to be good ones.
Damage can be used for every aspect of the game; questing, PvP, and raiding. Heals; raiding and PvP, but tanks only raiding.

You palidans make the same arguement about mobility. I haven’t played a palidan in years, but you have a charger which seems to avoid movement penalties does it not? On top of that you can break roots or worse case scenario bubble it. Like I said, decent not great. Much better than some classes aka DK.

I like how most call for paladin nerfs are usually,
“I had to go through his health bar three times before killing him!”
They then turn a blind eye if you point out that they basically killed him three times without dying to him once.

Yea I can break roots and continue walking with someone, or several someone’s, still on my tail. It’s not like I can get away from them lol. And the charger is on like a 40-45 second CD and is the only one we have. Considering most other classes have their own mobility skills, and often more than us (or range…), often people can catch up easily.
If we’re talking PvE, well it’s not great there, either. Everyone else is faster so they can get from room to room faster, especially considering charger doesn’t go very far. It’s useful as a literal charge a short distance. Maybe to avoid damage or something. But I’m always trailing behind people in dungeons.

I don’t really have issues with paladins as a laser chicken. They don’t tend to do very much when they’re disarmed or standing in a silence beam ^.^

Lack of mobility is actually one of our top complaints.
Dude, if you can’t melt the face of a pally in a few seconds as a DH, I would not play DH.
We’ve been hit by the nerf bat so many times, our class hall should be in a batting cage.
If this means giving us more than 3 buttons, or a playstyle that doesn’t involve placing our left ear on the left tab and rolling right, sure… I’m in.

for real, my pally is a dreanei and that stupid elephant gets caught on everything, can’t chase flag carriers through the tunnels in warsong gulch because I get caught on the ceiling lights.
