And i have seen people get 3 maps a week. so its just luck.
This is the part that gets me. The limitation. Because its forces people to be in the mindset of not upgrading their gear.
Because we clearly are both seeing that an upgrade/progression path exists. But we are worried about wasting the limited resources.
100% i hate it and oddly, its why i loved, i think it was S2 of DF, because like 2 weeks in they just said screw it uncapped valor.
They need to remove these caps, on items we need to upgrade things.
I don’t think there’s every really a reason to NOT upgrade your gear.
Precisely because of the misunderstanding of that term: we DON’T upgrade our gear. We upgrade THE SLOT.
If you get another item in that same slot, you don’t spend Crests again to upgrade it to the same level. There’s no reason to NOT upgrade an item.
You’re upgrading the SLOT, not the item.
If you are on the cusp of being able to do M+7 which gives heroic gear, you dont wanna waste your crests on chap items because you will need them for that heroic item that can go higher.
Because then you can spend those crests to buy more runed crests vs upgrading.
I am not sure uncapped is the answer. But a middle ground somewhere.
M+ gives such an abundance of quality gear that the crest cap imho is supposed to ensure there is some timely progression and people dont just go wild.
Counter point. If you dont upgrade your champ gear, you stay at the cusp and never get +7s down. And since loot is RNG, you cant say for sure when you would get the piece its replacing anyways.
I wouldn’t call 606 gear capping though, and i dont even think players would cap at 606 for a while from delves. 616 is more the goal, and that is capped by the weekly vault, and you’re definitely not going to get a new piece you need every week from that. Definitely would take more than 2 weeks.
M+ player’s are dedicated to gear progression. I don’t think delve players are as dedicated to capping immediately. 2 different breeds imo.
If you run into toxic groups frequently enough to be a problem, then you are likely part of the problem. This isn’t some universal phenomena because there are plenty of pug tanks who rarely see toxicity. Toxicity is also extremely subjective.
There’s really not much to memorize in terms of routing. Most dungeons will get you 100% just by pressing W.
People don’t yell if you do 2-3 pack pulls. That is a far cry from MDI. If you are single pack pulling all run then that’s on you.
People use CCs, maybe just not in the extreme bottom end; however, in those keys tanks aren’t using defensives either. Two-way street.
This is certifiably not true. I’ve had plenty of wipes where no one says a single thing. Wipes happen. Constant wipes shouldn’t.
Gear capping as in you are getting full champ items. or better.
Not really, people are motivation driven, and gear upgrades are a universal motivator. Casuals are not doing delves just to do them, they are doing them to progress in them and get rewards, other wise, solo players would be all about doing Follower dungeons which are easily soloable but dont get upgrades.
They are cut from the same cloth, its just a matter of how much effort each person wants to put in, and the amount of effort you need to put into maxing out how much rewards you can get from devles is VERY VERY small.
I played a few seasons in DF then quit for 8 months. For me as a Dps id just a start a group. That aside i wont bother i hate this seasons dungeons. Mists necrotic wake and that stupid ship hard pass none of the dungeons are particularly fun.And this new level squish is just stupid, making 2-7 like 15s was a poor move by blizzard.
Im not saing they’re just stumbling by a delve and doing them. Totally unaware of progression. Im saying their not spamming them feverishly. Where M+ and raiders spammed them because they’re upgrade path is 100% of their motivation.
I just think casuals are more ok with a slower upgrade path. They dont technically feel the need to rush to get fully capped immediately.
I hold until after I’ve ran raid and delves for the week. Then I target slots that are heroic or trinket. Dodging the ones that I’m going to use the token on or I know I’m gonna craft something in. But I tend to send my crests pretty much when weekend hit so I get a couple ilevels before m+. Soon, everything will be 619 and it’ll be getting to timing 9s consistently that’ll be the bottleneck.
I agree with that as well.
What im trying to emphasis here is that even casually you can max out the potential of the devles.
You get 4 keys a week by casually flying around, and doing WQ.
By doing delves you get echos, if you do 2 turn ins of 5, with a group of DPS you can get about 3.5 keys extra.
So really the only effort you need to do, to maximize your loot potential is group up with 5 people twice a week for less then 5 min.
I get your point. I think it makes sense. I think we’re dealing with Delves 1.0. I think as it mature’s they’ll think of better ways to keep players playing them, and build on the positives. Get rid of some negatives.
This is a pretty good first attempt imo. I’ll tell you what. I just resubbed a few days ago. I probably wouldn’t if delves didnt exist.
Im in my early 40’s. I have a ton of responsibility. Us elder millenials still want to play, so it is what it is. Im no young man on caffeine looking to tear up this game. A lot of ppl are growing older with it. I still like a challenge, but one thats feasable and on my own time.
Of course we should listen to non tanks on what tanking should be like. Makes sense
I agree 100%.
Mythic plus is the main game mode of wow and without it, WoW will no longer continue to succeed as a profitable product for Microsoft.
Also make valor easier to obtain… we get to a point where people are scared to upgrade because resources are so scarce
You mean valorstone?
Honestly, nah they are so easy to obtain.
They’re in delves, or running with guilds, communities and friends.
The community did this to themselves. It has little to do with tank changes and everything to do with social environments, the stigma on pugs being wretched, the insufferable toxicity of the way players often treat each other, the lack of respect and high expectations placed on them.
I think the tank changes are fine. I think the ideal is that tanks actually take damage and have to be smart with their CDs, and there isn’t as many 1-shots on DPS. Dungeons might be tuned too hard in general this season.
The problem is Challenger’s Peril. I haven’t even gotten up to that point yet, but its inclusion basically makes me dread or even not want to go for the seasonal rewards this season.
