Vanilla had nothing about the factions being at war iirc. We killed Rag, Nefarion, the bugs in AQ, Kel’Thuzad, some trolls, and ogres.
I love PVP but the community makes it very clear PVP is a step child and only ever will be regarded as such.

Problem is that WoW put way too much story into books instead into the game. If you gloss over stuff like Wrathgate and not view that as acts of war in WotLK then I don’t know what to say. Alliance took the fight more to the Horde when Varian returned and it subsequently went away when he died.

We’re at war with the primalists.
There’s always a war.
Why do people always translate Warcraft as Horde vs. Alliance? It hasn’t been that since Orcs vs. Humans. Everything since then has been the war of mortals vs. gods of some kind or another, power-wise.
BfA was Horde vs Alliance.
For the first patch maybe. Sure didn’t feel like it beyond that. Well… okay. I concede that the majority if BfA was supposed to be centered around H vs A but it sure seems like they could have done a lot more to make it feel like a conventional war instead of a couple skirmish wq’s, 1 raid tier, and some islands nobody did.
Well that may have been their intention but remember the old saying, “No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy”.

Because no matter how bad war is, Warcraft has that spirit in a single game, its name indicates everything, in fact even Kratos is still like God of War despite being more of a Dad of War.
the word war still stands, instead far from the war against a single enemy, Warcraft was defined by a simple and interesting story, the war of factions.
Something that after Warcraft 2 with the passage of time little by little is lost until becoming what is now called Wokecraft, it cannot be a game with a peace arc plot when it was always the fundamental part and not only to know this world, it is The same as you would remove in Warhammer or Warhammer 40K, it would just be a bait game.
