Dracthyr Evoker are getting permanent visage in combat (like 90% of the time). My intuition tells me this is just the start of even more options for cosmetic customization on our characters.
Moonkin Form is wonderful and I love it. But there is no reason at all why Balance Druid can’t be a spell caster in their humanoid form. I’ve wanted to play as a Warcraft 3 druid since I was a kid. Don’t get me wrong, I love the owlbear and find the form quite cute. I also love the dracthyr form (would love it more if you could actually transmog it). But I’d love even more the option to look like my night elf form without being forced to turn into an ugly translucent blue ghost.
I understand this might be an unpopular opinion so please at least blizzard consider this.
Either make moonkin form completely optional and cosmetic like the tree form for resto druid was made years ago.
Or, update glyph of stars in general so that instead of a glyph, it’s a barbership option under moonkin form. And change the animation on it so that instead of being an ugly blue ghost, you have a very subtle softer moonlit (or sunlit for people that want a sun theme) glow around your character or something. Please.
We don’t know yet which spells will flag the Dracthyr form. A given is that the flying-breathes and the hover based spells are defnitely doing it.
However if more rotational spells like Disintegrate, Azure Strike, the regular Breathes are included too, we may be seeing much more Dracthyr than Visage, especially for the DPS specs.
On topic:
I’d really love, instead of getting rid of it, the Astral form got a big update. If it looked more like Tyrande during her Night Warrior berserk glowing starry tattoos over the body and aura, would look MUCH better.
Like this:
IDK how it even makes sense that the Astral form is a ghost lol.
I’m gonna be so for real. I just want to look like my night elf without forced visuals. If they made your idea optional customization in the barbershop, that’s fine. But not the vision for my character.
I’m fine with the stars thing being given more customizations like in my second bullet point. But genuinely, why do you care what other people do with their characters? You’d still be able to enter moonkin form like normal if it was a cosmetic option like I mentioned in the first bullet point. All moonkin form does is give a 10% spell damage bonus and owlkin frenzy which is easy to make a passive.
Enough people complained about dracthyr forms to get this upcoming change, and it doesn’t affect anyone if they don’t want to use the battle visage thing. I always thought it felt weirdly gatekeepy.
Oh you deleted your post. Well. Reply still stands.
Okay. Sounds good. In my perfect world, I personally want truly a cosmetic moonkin form so I’d not have to fiddle with it. But I recognize people are very particular about that, so I’d be more than happy with my second bullet above about better customization for the glyph of stars effect like in the barbershop ideally.
oh yeah while I love chicken I understand people would love to see their form and frankly astral just doesn’t do it making you blue I would def add more variants for it even just a minor glow would work along with other colors. as for non astral they could easily go with other forms as well boomy doesn’t need to only be chicken
Yeah that’d be great too. Adding more choices for what type of animal you turn into would be very welcome. Like with bear form you can be an owlbear which is unique.
It wouldn’t be a stretch to add a passive to the spec that increases our armor or even provides a flat damage reduction percentage.
“Celestial Ward: While in spellcaster form, you are protected by cosmic energies. 3% damage reduction.”
or if the flat damage reduction is deemed too powerful, they could do this.
“Moonkin’s Resilience: While in spellcaster form, your armor is increased by 125%.”
These passives would not work in with bear form or cat form. For class balance and thematics purposes.
Again, this would only be if moonkin form was made completely cosmetic and optional. If they did my second bullet idea in the original post, where they add more customization for the glyph of stars effect and make it way better, then you’d still have to enter moonkin form like usual. It would just appear differently of course based on the barbershop customizations you chose.
It’s sort of ridiculous how penalized you can be for playing something that was actually in Warcraft 3, like a humanoid caster druid, while in the meantime you can run around as a troll paladin.
There is a “Glyph of Stars” you can get that turns moonkin form into a sort of translucent, starry ghost. I think I got mine during the recent Lemix Remix. I think there are others.
That will always be the key here. I just think they have so much great stuff already designed out they just need to put more dedicated resources into player customization and it’ll be a huge hit.
