I’m happy for everyone that has complained about this achievement over the years but as someone that owned 10 violet proto-drakes (before mounts became account wide), the achievement was not hard to do and I hate pvp.
lol, know you are telling me what I think. Did you miss the part where I said it wasn’t that bad to do - that actually changes how you feel about something. Do you recognize the feeling of accomplishment?
they aren’t making the game accessible to everyone - if they were they would get rid of PVP and mythic raiding. All they change is things they don’t feel to be of much value.
I can’t do a lot of the stuff in this current version of the game because for years they decided to make dungeons and raids and torghast and all sorts of content be some high wire act and I can’t stand heights. I have complained about that on and off for years but they really don’t care.
Typical straw man fallacy. Of course I don’t want PvP mounts available thru PvE (that would be against the definition of PVP mount, I guess). Nor do I want a PvE version of battlegrounds, nor do want a PvE War Mode.
But an achievement PvP for what should be a fun little feel-good event like Children’s Week is absurd!
you literally said people don’t like being made to pvp - that was part of the achievement to pvp… so just taking your argument to the logical conclusion.
Got to say as someone who got that achievement years and years ago during Wrath I think it’s kind of funny how upset some people are at this being removed.
I agree with it being removed from the meta as the requirements are kind of ridiculous. Just one of them would be an annoyance, all 4 is a real pain. I had to queue for I don’t even know how many BGs to get it done and I think I actually might have done it with a premade group that was just doing the BGs for that achieve when achieves and getting the purple drake was a new-ish thing.
this game is about killing all throughout - you are okay with taking children to kill all sorts of others things in this game but not npcs in a battleground and that is all you had to do for that achievement - there was no real pvp involved if you didn’t want to pvp.
I don’t like to pattern of them caving in when people complain about collectible items because now I don’t feel like working at a lot of things in the game because I can just wait and in a few expansions I won’t have to bother because the pattern is they just give them away.
I didn’t buy Shadowlands right away so I worked on a couple of mounts I was missing from paragon caches in Argus - a few months later they made them simple to get. Now I have to decide should I work on these in Shadowlands or just wait… collectibles there is no hurry getting. So it is kind of pointless doing a bunch of content to get them now.
As it should be. I rather have people cherishing the stuff by using rather seeing people not having them.
Unlike you I did this for three years constantly with two characters who could open a box every 1-2 days without any problems. For three years without almost no breaks in-between.
In all these years I only got three mounts. After the new system was in place, I was rather relieved than happy about the unlocks. I finally could start doing something else in the game.
I did it on 8 characters when the expansion was current for months. I used 6 I think this time.
Regardless, the same thing applies. It is sort of pointless for me to do any of that type of content now because I literally don’t care if I get it this year or in 3.
there is nothing else in the game for me because people like you keep on ruining content I do.
I think that’s a negative attitude and I disagree with that sentiment as unhealthy.
This achieve was a genuinely annoying thing to ask people to do. This isn’t some test of skill type of thing. All the other holiday achievements are based around basic and easily done stuff with some repetition that don’t require this kind of cooperation from other players or luck.
You should work to have items not to lord them over other players, but to enjoy them. That’s the point of games. This isn’t art collecting among the wealthy to have a private gallery you can be in exclusive control over and gloat over and feel proud of yourself for.
Your argument would hold for not wanting to raid either because you can just wait 2 years to get the transmog looks you like and achievements (aside from AotC) which is something I actually do as a casual. And your solution would be scale all content forever and don’t allow farming because it devalues your work.
For me, historically raiding and such weren’t about being exclusive. Despite the fact I was in some high places at times. It was about camaraderie. Fun times with people I enjoyed overcoming things with. Laughs. Jokes in vent. Bad wipes, funny wipes, raging, working hard to get the strats right, the thrill of success, of hearing the Lich King death speech for the first time and seeing that achievement that meant something because I earned it the hard way and had fun doing so, etc. Those are all moments. Moments that pass by and are gone forever. They’re not devalued because someone can walk in and one-shot the LK now and get that achieve. Because the value wasn’t those little points or that text or that speech. It was that moment, that experience, that point in time, with those people I was with. That was what made it fun. That was what burned it into my memory. That is what I cherish about it. Not others not having it or lacking the ability to get it.
The collectable items in this game are many and are fun and there are very rare and hard to get ones I’d suggest you focus on if that’s your thing. But this isn’t meant to be a very rare one as many things are not in this game (this isn’t a souls game, this game got popular because it was easier and more accessible than everquest). This is meant to be one for someone who takes the time to farm out holiday achievements over a year or two of time.
Holidays are not competitive. They are not tests of skill. They’re fun little bonus events for flavor put in the game by the devs to make the world more lively. The violet proto-drake is not some exclusive thing that people ride around on to let everyone know they’re dark sunglasses cool. It’s just another collectable mount among a mountain of them that has no reason to be unnecessarily barred.
I can’t remember when I finished this achievement. I think it was in Wrath. I remember doing some stuff for it back then, but… was it really that hard? I was super bad back in the day. Maybe it got harder over time?
My brain is fried.
Glad they are nerfing it for people who somehow still need it!
