Its because they only hotfixed the plunder gained. Not the reputation rate. So gaining rep is still slow. You will get better number of rep if you managed to gain more plunder during the match. But they didnt touch the rep gain rate so thats why it is still slow.
They need to reduce the overall amount required by 30-50%

They said 6 weeks during an interview, but you are correct in that they havent explicitly said it will end in 6 weeks
Specifically this quote: “You don’t need it do it all in one sitting,” Salvatore said. “We don’t want this to feel like you’re required to play every single day for the six weeks that this is active.”

It’s just stings that people have been requesting for the amount of renown from plunder be increased to help speed up the grind but its feedback that’s currently not being touched.
I’m just trying to figure out if Blizz might think by people having a way to quickly get renown when they hit 40 the player numbers will start diving down before the six weeks is up.

its been out for like 5 days and some of you want to be lvl 40 already?
why can’t some of you just chill out? just play the game normally and have fun, the rewards will come as a byproduct of the enjoyment.
if you don’t enjoy it, don’t play. simple.
but it was touched. they increased plunder gains substantially and plunder = renown even if it’s not 1-1
it’s the classic “i don’t want to do this content, or i’m not good enough to do this content, or i don’t have time to do this content but i want all of the rewards anyway”
there are still people who hate things like KSM, Elite Sets, etc which are hilariously easy to obtain, for those who actually care to obtain them, simply because they can’t/won’t/aren’t able to obtain them
This grind doesn’t take a particular level of skill so it’s not comparable to gladiator mage tower etc. It can be obtained by people who are terrible at the game if they’re persistent enough, it just takes an unreasonable amount of time. I’m not saying it should be trivialized but the amount of time it takes to hit renown 20 is about all that should be required.

you absolutely can get to level 40 doing nothing but the quest and farming PvE mobs every game
but, yes, it will take longer because it’s literally a BR i.e. a PvP mode by definition
if you participate in the PvP aspect, you will complete the renown much faster especially if you are a more skilled player

It really isn’t considering the event lasts for a month and a half.
I do and always end up in at least the top 5 players remaining if not winning myself, it’s still too slow.
Those people are jobless and did nothing but play plunderstorm last week, stayed up all night, etc. Not normal behavior by any means. Like I said earlier in the thread, what they did is not indicative of what other people can realistically fit into their schedules let alone want to do.

Ironically you need to play every single day to see a better progress. Some people are still on Renown 2, because the game screws them over.
I’m currently close to 11, but it’s certainly not a good system.
They are NEET. Nobody can play this much if you have nothing else going on in your life. These people also lack the emotional awareness that donning the pirate suit will bring in resentment.

if this is true, which i highly doubt, then you’re ending up top 5 by running and hiding without actually fighting other players ever or grinding mobs
it’s 100% possible to make it top 5 at like level 6 if you do nothing and just go to where the end circle will roughly be
i hit 40 today. i have a full time job that requires i work more than 40 hours a week and i had 2 days where i didn’t play at all
you’re trolling or coping if you think the people who are 40 right now have no jobs, families, etc

what a sad way to view people just because you’re incapable of succeeding in a game mode you clearly don’t like to begin with
