It's ridiculous that Monks STILL can't use their weapons in SL

Why would they randomly avoid one class? There’s only 12 classes, be realistic.

Bruh, nobody is saying they’re “randomly” avoiding them. They are given by far the least amount of attention out of all the classes, which may be due to the fact that they’re the least played – but this also further contributes to the reason WHY they’re the least played class. Nice of you to just dismiss all the reasons listed in this thread and say that though.

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just play a warrior if you wanted to use your weapons.

I mean to each their own, but isn’t the whole draw of monks the martial arts thing? Least that’s the way I’ve seen it.

The no blue post in the monk beta forums would indicate otherwise.

Monks in cinematics use weapons and look pretty cool doing it

Also the monks you duel during leveling use their weapons as well

Also in the game as a glyph when they were introduced

People just want a part of their class fantasy visualized in game

I mean blizz gave them the option to 2h/ duel wield only to take away the one ability to actually USE them

I mean, they’re totally different classes. Warriors charge in, monks are more of a hit in run and have a totally different tool kit. Using weapons doesn’t define a class, but it’s a minor thing to implement which would give some significant improvement to my (and seemingly quite a few others’) enjoyment of the class.

When monks first came out they used a combination of martial arts + weapons, and to me this is how it should be. It’s not that I don’t enjoy using the martial arts (or else I definitely wouldn’t play monk), but that I’m bothered by having weapons equipped that I can’t use. I just want to have the option and I think it’s entirely reasonable to think it should be added back by now.

Yeah i mean i don’t see anyone saying ALL the abilities should be weapon animations, just having at least 1 would be nice and also fit the fantasy

I’m still not sure why when they got streamlined abilities in legion they didn’t just make tiger palm function as jab. Would solve the issue of that glyph no longer being a thing, as well as people being able to use their weapon.

Jab was a cool ability, that changed it’s icon and what the tooltip said based on the weapon equipped. It was monk flavor, who the heck thought that was a good idea to remove?

Exactly this. The fact that 2h weapons are coming back is something I’m happy about, but it only further makes me wish I could actually use my weapon. That’s just how I imagine a monk would be… punching things and then finishing them off with a staff strike.

It’s all over WoW lore, and even beyond that just seems like the image of a monk in general I would say. Like take the guy from Avatar the Last Airbender (I don’t watch the show, but just as an example), does he not use both his fists and a staff? I feel like it’s all over.

Yeah correct me if I’m wrong here but didnt blizz confirm blade masters are a form of monks? Would be kind of strange to see a blade master never use his/her blade

I feel like the fact that monks not being a high population class is a definite factor, there just weren’t many people being vocal about it. If they were more commonly played then I feel like it definitely would have been addressed by now. It’s been years and is beginning to feel a bit ridiculous to me though.

And while we’re making cosmetic complaints there should def be a glyph to not change your mog for your storm earth and fire images

This is unfortunately very true. It’s pretty crazy that the Brewmaster ability Blackout Strike (which is basically exactly what we’re asking for here) is being removed in SL and replaced with just the generic Blackout Kick… Just, why? This is going in the the literal complete opposite direction of how it should be.

When I first saw that a while ago my thought was “they must be planning to introduce a glyph for all monk specs to get Blackout Strike then, right?” but now months have passed with nothing, so that idea seems all but dead now.
