Just a game…
I remember joining a group and meeting the girl who would be my wife, I submitted a ticket to ask if a GM could officiate over the wedding and say the vows. I got a whisper the next day asking if I was busy, I said I wasn’t and in big letters on my screen it said “You have been summoned by the gods” and I was ported to a floating island where I met the GM of our server who told me he would personally come and do it. And he did.
Oops, that all happened on EverQuest but WoW is just as good.
I totally agree. I have fond memories of the game but if ActiBlizz suddenly pulls the plug, I have no say in the matter.
Keep your memories, make new ones but realize that nothing lasts forever.
What are we getting over btw?
People care about this game just as they would an inanimate object that has sedimental value to them.
Games old as all hell. Just as someone would cry over a broken vase that’s been in the family for generations and has many memories attached to it so would people over a game they spent a lot of time in forming bonds and memories over.
It’s not a hard concept to grasp for anyone that has and understands how emotions work.
Games are hobbies for many people. Say you’re a big fan of fishing, now let’s say you can no longer fish. Sure, it’s not the end of the world, but it sucks that you can’t fish anymore since that’s the thing you like to do. Same thing goes here.

Actually, literally any and every expert would tell you forming emotional attachments to video games and corporations is incredibly emotionally unhealthy.
So is falling for an abusive partner or forming attachment to inanimate objects but that doesn’t stop people from doing it.
This is such a dumb argument. Plenty of things in life technically don’t matter. If it’s not food, sleep, or making new people, technically it doesn’t matter. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter. Stop minimizing how other people feel. Let them feel however they want to feel. This post is a great example of toxic positivity. STOP TELLING OTHER PEOPLE HOW THEY SHOULD FEEL.
Very true OP. I think it’s a very immersive game which makes people more attached than they would be to a normal game though.
Absolutely true.
All of that is emotionally unhealthy, which is what I’ve been saying.
It’s just a game.
Don’t get emotionally invested.
It’s sad.

People are so focused on this game and forums that they even read it when they aren’t playing. It draws them back. They can’t stay away. Some of these people hardly play the game at all, they just like coming to the forums or chats to just to get angry and argue with people.
So you are telling yourself to get over it?

Maybe stop worrying about what other people care about. It’s not your business. Get over it.

It’s not that I disagree with your point of view. It’s a valid one that can be pretty much applied to anything that you overdo.
That being said, why do you care? I mean, if the person is hella invested in the game and having a good time, why would that bother you?
I am not trying to be rude, just curious. Peace.

I get attached to the paintings i make. So i feel a bit attached to a char i have invested 10+ years into. I would like a nice copy of her so that i can keep her on a thumb drive at least. I guess that makes me obessive.
I do care about the employees more. And i think they need to rob the overpaid and give back to the underpaid and even out the paygaps. Then put in a better HR program for the sexual harrassment. Im understanding that this is going to all put a halt to WOW for a while. Im ok with that. But if WOW dies tomorrow i will feel very robbed.

Oh, I’m just tired of seeing people crying about being “betrayed” by a company or “let down” by a company, people getting emotionally upset because a company does what a company does. (Mind you this is specifically not talking about recent allegations, which is a whole different can of worms).
These people would be so much happier and healthier playing and doing something else.

The literal definition of a “forum” is:
a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.
So, yeah. It is okay to talk about feelings. Especially when there are heavy accusations and allegations being made about a company that produces the very game/forums in which you are communicating on.
Always feel comfortable discussing with you!

Yes lets bring your feelings into a games Forums rather than where your bs should be. Is twitter down or something? Or is it because someone is somewhat engaging with you here?
Are you saying BS should be here instead of feelings?
