It would be very unfair if Druids got those skins

Precisely. Prestige status from pieces should Have a label and expire date, just as patents and copyright. You should be able to return those virtual itens years back and a decade old content is far past thar point.

Bring back Mage Tower with the original forms and be done with it Blizzard.

you realize not everyone who streams as a full-time job is making 6 or 7 figures, right? i know several people who pay their bills with streaming but don’t generally have more than a few hundred viewers at most. obviously they do some acting and playing to the camera and to chat, but these are people whose content is playing the game rather than talking about the game.

At this point I think you’re being argumentative just to argue and you don’t even understand what you’re trying to argue anymore at what point you’re trying to make. If streaming is their full-time job then their full-time job is to bring in viewers. Period.

Their job is to get clicks. I realize not everyone who streams make six figures those people are incredibly rare. But more viewers means more money. So I repeat what I said that they will do and say whatever needs to be said to get more views.

Otherwise it’s like being a car salesman and saying I sold no cars this week because I just didn’t feel like using my sales pitch on people

Gotta love someone who asks a question, cries about “unfair”, then tries to dictate how you are or are not allowed to respond. Shutup buddy.

I am willing to believe this was done on purpose by a dev who is rebelling against leaderships atrocious choice with mage tower.

oh, now i get it. you assume nobody has any integrity.

interesting that you picked car salesman as an analogy and not doctor. in your mind, will doctors also say or do whatever it takes to get more patients in their office?

I have them and my opinion is this, one they should remove them as some people legit made a Druid to play but others just randomly got them or created a Druid after they heard about the bug.

But IF IF IF they do let people keep them they need to give them to everyone, someone who didn’t instantly try to log in should not lose out on the skins.

just bring back mage tower and it’s rewards.

No you don’t get it and that’s the problem. As a streamer you have two jobs.

  1. entertain people
  2. bring in viewers

The entertaining people part is more like being an actor. You have a Persona that you take on for your audience. Part of bringing in more viewers is jumping from whatever drama train is currently running to the next. If you don’t people stop watching you and you lose viewers therefore you lose money.

This is a pretty simple concept that you just don’t seem to understand the days of just being yourself and streaming yourself playing a game died 10 years ago

conspiracy theorist?

No I just don’t live with my head in the clouds. The sad truth is is there really are no conspiracies. There’s no Shadow government the people like to believe in. All these crazy conspiracy theories that people like to believe? Do you know why they keep coming up with more conspiracies?

Because the truth is reality is boring and in reality there are none. But people like to believe the juicy conspiracy theories because they feel like doing so gives their life meaning. This is basic sociology. The fact that we keep coming up with these things says a lot about us as a species and probably who we wish to be. This is also why people cleaned fantasy so tightly. Why things like Star Wars have so many cosplayers etc etc

and yet i watch dozens of people do it on a weekly basis. they’re not putting out “reaction videos” or hour-long screeds about how bad/good blizzard is. they’re not spending any significant portion of the stream complaining about game design, or other streamers, or the latest blue post, or anything else. they’re playing the game with pals and having fun. the fact that you’re not aware this is even possible honestly kind of puzzles me.

That’s fine too, I have no real power of course I am a peon but as someone who has both Werebear skins from the original and the timewalking one… as well as multiple other cosmetics from every character I actually played… it doesn’t bother me one but if you, your roommate, or Bill down the street gets the skins.

People who are so attached to their “special skin I worked so hard for,” really need to as the kids say touch grass.

To me the only negative result here would be if the people who logged in day 1 get to keep their skins, but the people who log in today can’t attain them, that is rewarding bugs.

A lot of people were saying that they got them without making a druid in remix. I saw a few posts at least that talked about, how their retail character got it even without having a druid in remix.

I can’t confirm or deny this as I made one of each class in remix, and I only checked the barber on my remix character after seeing the forums talking about it.

Exploits are the use of a bug or glitch, in a way that gives a substantial unfair advantage to players using it. Barbershop appearances are cosmetic and do not offer a “substantial unfair advantage”.

A bug is a flaw or error in a video game’s code, design, or programming that causes it to behave in an unintended or incorrect way, leading to unexpected results for the player. These can range from minor glitches, such as graphical anomalies, to more severe issues like game crashes, incorrect player progression, or objects behaving erratically.

These are very textbook, and broadly acknowledged definitions of both items. Now, if you insist your personal interpretation needs to invalidate What PC Gamer, Reddit, and a half dozen other relevant gaming sites say, that is on you. But by their very definitions, this is, in fact, a bug.

Players use exploits to:

  1. bypass intended game mechanics
  2. acquire unlimited items
  3. achieve invincibility
  4. disrupt the game’s balance

Though some exploits can also lead to new emergent strategies that are eventually accepted by the community. None of that ocurred here.

  1. The MT was not bypassed, the appearances came to the barbershop on their own
  2. Nothing was acquired, the appearances came to the barbershop on their own
  3. Appearances cannot give you invincibility
  4. The balance of PvE and PvP cannot be disrupted with barbershop appearances.

We don’t need to debate the definitions. Most of us understand them quite clearly. So, for anyone who thinks this was an exploit, and not simply a bug in error, would be wrong, in every conceivable way. That’s just the objective truth as illustrated through literal definitions set by the gaming community, and not the general understanding and interpretations of an individual.

I also see it as a bug. It wouldn’t surprise me if they fix it and revert anyone that got it. But calling it an exploit seems a bit much, especially since it’s a cosmetic bug that can be fixed without any further effect on the game.

We have confirmation it is being removed.

And that’s fair, I don’t expect anyone to be punished for this. I think at this point the best option would be to just let everyone have the skins.

Will it upset longtime players who feel special for having it, sure. Will it earn a lot of goodwill with people getting it unexpectedly, yes. They’re neat skins let everyone use them

I earned the cat form back in the day and I really don’t see the problem with druids getting forms that look cool and make people happy.

There are other old items that got removed from the game and it’s kind of sad to never see them anymore since the players quit overtime and no one new has a chance to earn it.

They also need to just stop being so back and fourth on these sort of things in general.

It’s pixels. It’s a GAME. It has been a long time. A ton of people earned it super easily at the end of the xpac anyway by over gearing it.

I have OG MT skins.
I have OG TCG stuff.
I have OG recruit a friend stuff.
I have AOTC mounts.
I have mythic mog sets from legion.

Another thing they missed out on that I miss seeing more people with is CM mog.
I feel bad when people ask me about those pieces and I’m like uh yeah it’s gone lol.

Why is it they are bringing back some of the AOTC, and not all? Why do they say they want the most elite things earned from top content to stay removed, yet the mythic mog you got from Trial of Valor is coming back? Why do they bring back special current PvE things and not PvP? It just doesn’t make sense anymore.

I could care less either way, but they could give a special achieve for OG people if it matters that much. Kind of like the recruit a friend stuff, I earned an achieve back in the day…but now on TP you can just get the mount.

Tyrae’s Charger? Made it back and it was mostly people being happy. Only a small portion cried about it.

TCG stuff? Again, if someone is mad they paid a bunch of money for a card, that’s their issue. I was happy to see people get excited about stuff I collected ages ago.

At the end of the day, just let people have fun. It’s not hurting anyone else and if they are having issues, they probably need some therapy.
