I unlocked flying last night finally, and it was the best thing that’s happened to me this expansion so far.
Imagine making an expansion where a customer says the BEST thing about it is a feature from twelve years ago. I finally understand Pathfinder. Make content people hate so much they want flying to get it done more efficiently and charge them an expac every two years and 6-9 months of subs to get it. Freaking genius.
I am really conflicted when it comes to pathfinder now. The cheap little goblin I am enjoys the fact that I get free flying account wide for doing content I was going to do anyway. The pro flying part of myself thinks pathfinder is just Blizzard being spiteful about flying.
If I could have a perfect world I would still have pathfinder for people like myself but have it limited time only. Have a set time when flying will be released after it is released remove pathfinder from the game and just allow people to buy flying like they did in the past.
Blizzard just needs to admit they don’t want people flying until 9.3 and move on from there.
Thats why they should have ADDED PF into the existing system instead of removing the old max level gold per character.
That way those of you who “play the game anyway” could have done that and gotten flight once for all…and those of us who play far more than most and keep our sub bill paid in full too but dont like running after the cheese in the maze could also have flight on our dozen or so alts.
I started playing WoW to get away from those stupid Eye of the Beholder maze run type of games. It was supposed to be a big open world where I got to choose how I played.
Pathfinder ruined all that. Id be better off playing Eye of the Beholder, most likely. Far less irritating, anyway.
By making pathfinder so time consuming they actually diminish the value of the game’s content. People rush through stuff just to tick off all the boxes. The end result is the game becomes about getting flying, not playing through a story.
Dazar’Alor was so annoying without flight, so glad I play both factions so I could just wait til I had flight to level most of my horde characters. It’s like they placed the mission table, bank, & profession trainers as far as possible away from each other on purpose.
I’m not so much for against Pathfinder, just how deflating it is that a customer finds more enjoyment that tasks (WQs) are completed than the actual tasks themselves and blizzard monetizes the tasks the customer doesn’t enjoy but likes completing by providing a way to complete the tasks quicker by time gating a sub to get flying.
The current developer team is really clueless and quite lazy while wanting to satisfy everyone so we get Pathfinder and them conditioning others to say they are fine with it.
OP hit it on the head there… I hated Naz’jatar and Mechagon so much after that when I got flying, I never returned. GG Blizz.
I feel that what I am going to say applies to both of these post. Pathfinder is a punishment. I know that it is supposed to be a compromise but it was not designed as such and it does not feel like one. I wonder when or if Blizzard will make a compromise on Pathfinder. Allowing for people to just buy flying, or add more things to Pathfinder but allow for players to choose what they complete in it to finish it. And lastly just honestly say when flying is coming out. People may play until then, they may wait to sub until flying is out, or they might go play some Classic.
Blizzard has no faith in their content today. Back in BC/wrath Blizzard let us freely fly right from the start of the expansion. If Blizzard made good content then flying wouldn’t be an issue.
