So being a healer/normal everyday player, naturally have 2 sets of items. One raid one dungeon. Had upgraded my raid stuff before raid the other day, switched to dungeon stuff after ready to do things when it was time.
Yesterday hopped online, ran some M10s got some gilded crests. Between each key I popped into the upgraders and upgraded my next piece of gear, just super happy to watch my ilvl go up.
My dungeon cloak [Electrician’s Siphoning Filter] Heroic was 4/6 popped it into the upgrader and upgraded it to 5/6. Did another key, came back and did it to 6/6.
Like every other sane player thought: “wicked, that is 6/6 lets upgrade my raid piece because my next item shouldn’t charge gilded crests” - right?
Looked into my bags at my raid items, there in my bag was a 6/6 Heroic [Chef Chewie’s Towel] upgraded, enchanted, previously equipped and linked to an item set.
Turns out I had already upgraded it the other day and forgotten, so no didn’t realise it before I upgraded the item otherwise I would have been able to provide screenshots etc.
I just wasted 30 gilded crests on an item that should not have been charged gilded crests at all as there was already a soulbound item in my bag with a higher ilvl for that slot.
I believe blizzard would have a way of checking these sort of things to verify its a bug and to try and work out what has happened.
Popping this here in hopes that the bug will be acknowledged and that something might happen to stop it affecting others.
Btw, yes I opened a ticket, yes it was responded to with a copy paste message about no refunds for upgrading the wrong item - which just meant they didn’t even read my ticket.
Yes I would like my crests back, but yes I have already given up hope of it happening.
TLDR: Watch what you upgrade and make sure you check you haven’t already upgraded an item for that slot already before you press accept.
