Isn't the Temporal Alignment change a nerf?

Maybe I’m missing something obvious here but :

Old: Upon dropping below 25% health, your past self corrects your timeline, casting Alter Time and instantly returning 50% of your maximum health.

New: Upon dropping below 25% health, your past self corrects your timeline, casting Alter Time and instantly returning 20% of your maximum health and healing you for an additional 30% over 6 sec.

The old version immediatley returned 50% of your health. The new version returns only 20% immediately, and the other 30% over time. Both of these end up returning 50% of your Max HP, but I’d rather get that health instantly rather than over time if I’m low HP.

This is strictly a nerf, isn’t it? I haven’t seen anymore mention this, it’s another nerf to Mage Survivability isn’t it?

It is, but it’s also a bad talent to begin with, so whatever.

Alter Time has struggled with the fact that it is very powerful at high levels of play but completely unused for those without practice. Temporal Alignment added in a choice to be “simple” and still feel like you’re using the ability.

My guess is this change is to make it just a little worse to encourage players to use the full kit more. I’m not saying it’s a good way to do it, just that it’s a guess.

It should be it’s own standalone and not proc the CD of alter time to be worth taking.
