Is using Reshades for WoW Bannable?

What you are talking about sounds like an overlay?

Blizzard only says you can’t replace game files, such as textures, with replacement textures. The reason for this is that “cheaters” would replace things like “treasure chests” or “Herb and Mine” nodes with Big, Giant, Neon things. That was the issue, which ruined it for people who just liked their “worgen”/whatever to have different textures.

In that case, the issue is that they can’t TELL if you’ve just modded some textures OR if you are cheating and making large neon things, so you don’t have to find chests or nodes anymore (seeing them from very, very far away.) So it isn’t a case of them being “mean”, or taking advantage of you being a “15 year user”, it is a case of some other people ruining it for you (by taking advantage.)

If you are not manipulating in game files, Blizzard has no way of knowing about it or no reason to care. An example would be raising your gamma, because you could not see at night and only played at a time when it was “night” in Wow; They just don’t care, if you do that.

Found this on Euro Threads:

If it uses injector then it is bannable. Otherwise not so much.

I’ve been using reshade since Legion and have not been banned for it. I have not heard of any cases where someone got banned for it. It doesn’t modify the game files in any way, and only changes post-processing effects, so as far as I’m aware it’s completely fine.

From the threads I read, if Reshade would allow you to shade things to make them more apparent (such as nodes, treasure chests, stealthed rogues) then YES, using it could get you banned. It seems to have something to do with “injector”, which could do such things, which I think they can tell it is using.

It apparently isn’t just in Wow, but people are being banned for using reshade in other games (such as Player Unknown Battlegrounds):

"if you changed your girlfriends makeup so her head is bright red and then i can shoot her from 500m away did you cheat on her "

It sounds very much, from threads, that it isn’t what you DO with it. Rather, it is what you COULD do with it while they can just detect you are USING it. So you might just use it to sharpen the graphics, decrease blur, etc. But they can’t tell that is all you are doing.

I’d stay away from it.
