Is torghast island expeditions 2.0?

If nobody is left out then why go ahead? This sounded more funny in my head I think.
I understand the concept, but the game is designed as a whole.
Sure Pvp could get a pass because of how different it is from pve.
But as far as pve go, you’ll have to do all of it if you want the best rewards for me it’s simple. The goal is to make you play more of the game not less. If you get the ilvl or the piece you want from one content, you won’t feel like you need to do the other content.

I think it is the equivalent to Island Expeditions in terms of reward and replayability. Other than that, seems more like Horrific Visions…though its own new iteration of it.

As I have just recently come back to play WoW, I find it strange how Torghast is one of the main features of Shadowlands.
That almost exact same feature is available in FFXIV and it was added during a mid-expansion patch.
It just doesn’t seem like something that belongs on an expansion poster.

They’ve already stated that the reason why people are one shotting stuff in Torghast is due to the amount of anima powers that are accessible for testing purposes and that when it goes live there wont be as many. It’s a pretty universal feeling that people love the content as well as how classes feel to play in Torghast.

More iterative upon visions than islands.

It’s a rogue-lite venture. Not Islands or Visions.

Lots of mixed feelings on this.

My opinion is that the goal should be just get you to play the game. If that is the goal then customers win and Blizzard wins. A lot of people go off and on with subs for different reasons, and I can not speak for them just myself. If people felt rewarded with how they play and not forced into “more of the game” it would make sense to stay subbed longer. If I felt like I hit a wall with my style of play, I’d be less likely to stick around thus hurting Blizzard and the community overall if enough felt the same way.

But thank you for actual conversation even if it did start off snarky

Sorry Op for the slight derail, but here’s to hoping that Torghast is fun and entertaining and not a step back from Visions as far as Solo content goes.

After watching a YouTube video, i am pretty confident that it is content i might skip but i have to try it out to see. I always try new stuff a couple times before i make my final decision.

When Mage Tower was new, i jumped in a total of three times… didn’t like it, never did it again. Island expeditions… i did exactly two…never set a foot in it again so yeah i will have to give it a shot or two, but like i said, from what i have seen in the video it might be an easy skip depends on how it looks/feels once SL is released.

It does seem that way. Islands were nothing but AP and crappy cosmetic bonanzas and torghast seems to be following those footsteps… If they don’t add regular gear torghast is gonna be a fat steaming flop.

I think it’d be unfair to call Torghast, 2.0 anything to be honest. It’s a very new bit of content that adapts the rogue-like dungeons of other games that simply better utilizes the previous tech they had while improving, and building upon it, in giving WoW something we’ve never had before but if done right can be something great for the health of the game and making more content going forward.

So far the VODs I’ve seen from content creators… the news about what’s involved… it’s all really looking to be (IMO the first time I say this in a long time)… fun.

Time efficient wise, I can’t see this being a way to gear… but more rather people simply challenging themselves. Whether you are solo or in a group of 2,3,4,5.

Islands were a misfire because of how they focused on azerite farming, and yet another rush, rush, rush type of content. They would have been more fun if they had focused on exploration.

The design as we have it now doesn’t serve any purpose at all in the game, even warfronts were better.

Torghast doesn’t sound anything like that, it should be a great addition to the game.

torghast doesnt even compare to garbage expeditions, only because you kill mobs on both of them this doesnt mean anything.
torghast is something more diablo or army training from legion

It’s 2.0 in the sense that they’re building off the framework behind them of randomly generated content.

Yes but ff14 is different. The combat builds and gear aren’t the main attraction it’s the story and music.

For wow many of us like to gear up and flex. Mage tower from legion was the epitome of this. If you’re new to the game google the mage tower or YouTube a video of it and you’ll understand.

It’s about building right and self accomplishment in wow a lot of time

It sounds ok of an idea i guess but after i while its supposed to last the whole xpac? i could see it getting old fast.

Agree unless they have some super creative ideas to keep it interesting. I think they meant it’s the focus of the expac in what they’re adding to the game not what we will be doing mostly. I think…

You can do it solo:

So 1 billion better than Island Expeditions.

If you could have soloed Islands, even if not all that well, I would have grinded them a lot.

Hmm, I am hoping there is more to it than a Legendary ring you get stuff for.

It reminds me of a take on Diablo’s rifts, but tailored to be better for WoW (and without pesky stuff like timers - although they could always add those in a “challenge mode” later, like M+)

I’m actually REALLY excited for Torghast. That and the unpruning of classes are the two things I’m looking forward to the most in Shadowlands.

Yea first thought is reminded me of rifts too. Just hope it’s more creative and less diablo-esque! Which so far it appears they are putting more effort into them. TBD but I’m with you I’m excited as well, cautiously optimistic.
