WoD also had a legendary quest line like MoP did. Also with JP/VP for upgrades and item purchases while I’d say they were good one may argue would be unfriendly for wanting to play them weekly for their cap to upgrade gear or buy BoEs. I definitely did a lot of that in Cata, which is when I made my first 100k.
I’d put SL on pretty similar ground as them though. The only extra system in place of any consequence over WoTLK/Cata is legendary power that every character should keep in mind.
i’m happy you do <3 as a mage, you have a LONG cd on your interrupt. mainly though, i mean in general over the course of an expansion, most do not and it’s not just because there are some wasted by two doing it at once. warcraft logs shows “missed interrupts” and i’ve seen a lack of attempted interrupts far too much. it’s sad when a mage or other caster with a long interrupt cd in comparison to melee is top of the interrupt list with very few misses by others. i recall n’zoth not so long ago. runs with as many interrupts as possible on the tentacles went smooth, runs with next to none went horribly wrong.
i agree though, mechanics matter and i think blizz is trying to get that point across. not sure it’ll sink in though to most players.
Sigh. I think at this point it’s best to just say we disagree on our definitions of ‘casual’. If your definition is “a casual player is someone who can do everything they need to do in 20 minutes”, then yes, we wildly differ. But hey, that’s what happens when nebulous terms like ‘casual’ are thrown around. =/
yea it is kinda sad and it pisses me off that im having to take time from dpsing to focus on mechanics and then some of those players are rude talking that my dps is lower then theirs when all they are doing is focusing on dpsing. this why i link them my logs of how much interrupts i did on that fight XD to piss um off.
it’s kinda like the classic wow meme on how melee focuses on bursting down mobs versus doing mechanics and end up wiping just for that basic reason. mechanics do kill thats why once you can nuke um down due to over gearing its fine but at the start it can be a struggle even for tanks/healers especially.
Serious question because I’m not even sure. Is there any reason I have to do covenant related stuff on my alts (or even main for that matter)? I’m pretty sure I would have to do some stuff to unlock additional soulbinds, but would I be penalized any other way down the line for ignoring the covenant campaign storyline?
Well I am fairly sure no definition of casual includes someone who needs to cap M+ or all content for pre-raid gear.
My definition of casual has always been someone who plays at their own pace and at their own time. Shadowlands 9.0 is not nearly as casual friendly in that regards as BfA 8.0 was.
Yep, you can play at your own pace and your own time Just within the week, as has been the case in both legion and bfa. I mean, let’s say you DON’T do the dungeon quest, since you clearly dislike dungeons, what’s the worst that happens? You don’t get as much rep. So what? You’re super casual BUT you want to be on top of all your rep gains at the same time? You don’t need them, (unless it’s been revealed that its mathematically impossible to get to exalted without them) Just like we didn’t need to do the Island Expeditions unless you wanted the azerite essence. You could get enough AP through WQs and other means.
I’m just looking at my quest log right now, the reward for the two dungeon quest is just rep and some anima. Maybe we’re talking about different things? I’m not sure if everyone 2x dungeon quest is the same.
seems semi casual friendly to me as long as you don’t have too many alts week 1. got 2 characters to 60, one is 59. 1 is rank 6 renown, alt needs spire for renown 6 which is not geared for yet. Didn’t max on soul ashes last week.
Granted, I’m doing a fair bit spread across 3 characters just to get them “stable” so the effort for weeklies/dailies isn’t bad. I’ve been doing my weekly PVP and dungeons on main. all callings on both. then maw dailies. forgot about wrath of the jailer on alt though.
The gear im not super worried about on alts yet. As long as I can do weeklies/dailies.
So if it is not about rep do you see something else it could be about? You are not ever talking about the same thing anymore. You are now “oh well you just don’t have to do it and not get the rewards”.
It’s the most casual friendly expansion we’ve had for a long time lmao.
Absolutely zero progression requires daily login. Everything you need to do to progress your character can be summed up and done in a single day and in barely any time depending on how fast you want to go. I mean God forbid there’s any grinds that require some time investment.
So what is it about? That was a serious question I asked before. I mean, if it turns out that I cannot progress in the story anymore and missing 1 week = no longer able to finish a story line ever, then yeah that’s a major problem.
But if ALL it means is that:
I don’t get my rep as fast as possible an don’t fill up my anima as fast as possible
my character isn’t as powerful as everyone else
Then, no, sorry, you’re trying to achieve more-than-casual goals in a less-than-casual way.
Theres some power behind covenants with soulbinds and renown (which you need to unlock soulbinds and conduit tiers), but there is catchup mechanics in place for alts or future alts.
But a lot of the covenant mechanics do not really seem power orientated as far as the unlocks you get by spending anima. Could be wrong, but it just seems to be for activities, ease of travel, etc.
It feels a lot like the campaign of BFA that I did on my main and then almost exclusively did not touch on my alts past getting the other continent unlocked.
well that’s quite alot right there. It makes it unfriendly to casuals who only want to log on and do what they choose to do at max. Not everyone likes running dailies, tor, logging on just to complete weekly cache’s… it is more unfriendly for casuals than the beginning of BFA witch i also played super casually and i’ll say at the beginning… this xpac requires a bit more of diligence to progress to endgame and start the endgame. In BFA with item templates i Geared thru bgs/ areanas and barely got 1750 in 2/3s just sitting the whole time queuing for arena and getting gear every other win. I also was able to do mythic 14 after 3 days of just doing what i like to do bgs/ arena. Now getting gear drops is much slower. And the time lvl for pvp gear to be adequate in any revelation to pve gear it has to be “upgraded” multiple times by farming honor. BFA i didn’t even have to “farm” honor the drops were plenty from bg/ arena. So just because you don’t notice the difference doesn’t mean there is none. From a super casual players perspective.
In terms of expansion BC was the worst. There is 2 talent the of instant talent change, you have to grind rep to gain entry to dungeon and raids, there is no LFR or random dungeons. But the good part is that when you form a group people generally are nicer and won’t leave half way, and people actually are more patient and mark targets which one needs to be CC or down first.
