TL;DR for the uninformed. WARNING: Some of the information here may very well be triggering to some.
One of Method’s co-CEOs (not Sco, but Sascha) ended up doing things that were very unprofessional with a popular WoW streamer named AnnieFuchsia who was at the time sponsored by Method. It wasn’t rape or even sexual assault (I bring this up because there are some cases in this large esports-wide controversy that DO involve stuff of that magnitude), but it was still highly unprofessional and the fact that Sco was very quick to defend Sascha for this came off as very unprofessional to many of Method’s longtime fans.
And then there’s Josh. Josh was a really good healer but he was in a questionable relationship with a 16 year old (the relationship itself is allegedly legal where he’s from, but soliciting nude photos of people this age is extremely illegal even there) and had also groomed someone at the age of 14. He’s also allegedly solicited nude photos from underage girls through many means (apparently through the Priest Discord?), and there was a Kotaku article published about this whole thing following Josh’s ban from Twitch roughly a year and change ago and many similar stories of this nature have arisen since over three years ago. Method still kept him aboard and still paid him a salary to play for them, and they still brought him along to the Race to World First because he was a good healer, which came across as them protecting him from consequences for a very long time using their considerable power and influence.
I think Method will bounce back from this. Josh has been kicked off the team today effective immediately because of the overwhelming amount of evidence of what he has done, but what Sascha has done, while nowhere near as deplorable as what Josh has done, is still extremely questionable and is extremely unbecoming of the CEO of a respected organization.
EDIT: I made an edit to clarify the parts of Josh’s initial relationship that were and were not legal. The relationship itself was very questionable but a part of said relationship involved what would be considered almost universally to be extremely illegal.
