Is this griefing or just being a jerk?

I’ve had this situation play out many times.

Kudos to you for killing the mob.

I usually run and leash it so it goes back to the player who tagged it.

I considered it, and as mentioned I also considered keeping it banished for oh the next half hour or so, or at least until they ran away and gave me the tag, but that would probably have gotten me reported.

Ultimately it wasn’t worth stooping to their level.

This is how the cast of Seinfeld ended up in jail.

At least that was satire.

Boomer reference.

Trash talking =/= griefing though.
OP must be skillin’ up fishing.

Did you play HC BSB or ever seen the appeals channel of the discord?

You could appeal greifing deaths and some of the things people legitimately thought was griefing was crazy.

Some of you saying trash talk isn’t griefing, well I guess you’re right, and the talk can be ignored. The only part that might be called griefing is standing there while someone dies (or not), and when you boil it down to that it’s a weak case for banning someone.

It’s still despicable though.

Not helping someone isn’t greifing them.

are you going to at least admit it’s despicable behavior :expressionless:

Correct, not helping is neutral. Helping someone can even get you killed so help at your own risk.

It’s not griefing, but it does break the TOS. I don’t personally report such things, but I wouldn’t blame you if you did.

I’d probably use a different word but sure.

The only thing I’d find fault with what the other person did would be the emote spam and trash talk.

If OP had died all the other person did was add insult to injury.

Na. Actually been proven what I say.

“Hidden” language is inappropriate.

You might want to edit your headline and your post.

I got in trouble here for calling an OP poster fragile. Lol. It was pretty funny but still.

Not griefing in the strictest sense of trying to get you killed; he can’t be actioned for lack of action, but definitely toxic behavior. Report and ignore, maybe he’ll get a temporary ban.

Report him for what? Not helping?

Dear Blizz, this guy totally just stood there and watched me die!!!

Is this where we’re at? Total Boomer comment (even though I’m not a Boomer), but if this is gamer mentality these days maybe I’m too old for online games.

No. Grow up.

As a boomer, I take offense at this characterization.

OP ran into a jerk.

Pretty sure he’ll live.

I’ve ran into a few jerks like this as well, not just on ckassic hc. They are a pain.

To OP
If someone actually threatens you, they can be reported, but never make any contact, whispering, emoting, etc. If you do that you are engaging with them. Just report an log off for a bit if you have to.

Ot switch characters and give the one getting harassed a break until the bad person moves along.

There is an in-game code of conduct you, and everyone else agrees to, before logging in. The HC agreement specifically calls out not to harass people.

If you tell people you wanted to see them die, name call, etc then you are opening yourself up to being reprimanded for your actions. As you so eager to point out in other threads I suggest that if you get a ban dished out because of things you say then you should take your own advice and accept the responsibility of your actions and deal with the consequences.
