Is this game pointless when we dont have friends to play?

I play “solo” all the time, join battlegrounds and other things with random peoples and its very stressfull.

I don’t think it’s pointless, but it can be more frustrating. It’s definitely a night and day experience to me.

All games are pointless. They are games.

I don’t log in unless I am doing stuff with friends.

No, I prefer solo play. I hate dealing with people, especially guildies. Some are okay, but some are annoying af then you’re stuck with them.

Playing with friends definitely makes the experience more fun imo. I wouldn’t say pointless because pvp is still fun regardless, but being able to share experience and laugh about it with others is nice and bonding

I started the game alone and met people through random bgs for the most part

Why is it stressful? Are you concerned about what these people think about your performance?

Me too, but playing solo all we cant do is quests and professions. Unless if you like pay a game just for this.

What are you talking about? There are PUGs and LFR. Are you saying you don’t like those either? I mean, I get some suck-- but at least I only have to deal with those people for 30 mins - 1 hr.

It can affect the game. OP.

I think WoW has something for almost everyone. I spent my first 3 expansions focused on end game and always with a guild, always on vent, or discord, very social. With pugs on top of that.

Then near the end of MoP I took a break and only came back for solo casual play from time to time from that point on. Still enjoy the game just as much, my only disappointment is the cross this and shard that vibe of WoW now vs the community that severs used to have. But as I don’t do the guild/pug thing anymore it’s no big issue for me, just sad for the game.

I’m by my self till I gotta join a group for this in that
The more you gear the more you can do on your own so no it’s not pointless

No, but I think that having people to regularly play with greatly enhances the experience.

Nah. It’s less fun and it will take longer / more effort to get anywhere. But it can be played solo.

I feel increasingly society in itself has become more closed off and isolated, perhaps due to covid, but this in-game problem has persisted long before covid. I remember it cropping in MoP and more so in WoD and then Legion and now here we are.

If you don’t want to make friends, just remember that’s on you but most people that are not anti social tend to hang out on Discord. So join a raid (or rbg’s) through lfg and be prepared to get on discord and be friendly.

Not really pointless but you’d have to have reasonable expectations on what you want to do, if you want to do M+ and raid you need reliable friends to play with because PUGs can be a nightmare, especially if you’re an off meta class.

And with PvP there’s solo shuffle now. So I guess it just depends on what you really wanna do.

I think everyone is different. I love to LFG with lower level dungeons (most of the time) because people in those instances are usually not the go Go GO type (depends on server). Otherwise, I’m perfectly happy just doing quests on my own, and things I don’t find rewarding and/or enjoyable I just don’t participate.

I feel that I play just for rewards. It cant became an addiction and unhealthy.

I’ve been playing since 2008 - Solo.

I have 4 friends on btag. One of them is my husband who hasn’t played in around 3 years, one is my son who thought he wanted to play WoW, but didn’t! One is our old Guild leader who hasn’t played in over 6 years and the other is on/off playing but I haven’t actually seen or spoken to him in game for more than 7 years. I have zero friends on the other list.

I prefer playing alone, i’ll group up as and when needed but there is nothing social about it, it’s about getting the task done.

I don’t raid, or do mythics, those things are just not what makes WoW fun for me.
