What do you mean buy a carry? What’s that? Do I have to talk to other players?
I don’t want that, I want to do it alone. Where is that option?
Can I solo instances by buying some stat boost? Like 1000% more damage and health to do the dungeons alone?
I thought you said it was a P2W game.
This topic again.
I can only assume the people who claim this game is P2W have zero experience with any true P2W MMO.
Let me guess, people buying carries is P2W? Because unless content is created with the solo purpose of making people use real money, it’s not.
Yes I can. You go buy a token or ten. Following me>?
Then you sell them on AH for gold and then you PAY TO WIN the game by buying carries and ratings and gear…
Pay to win…
You lose game over.
What? I have to buy it from other players?
That doesn’t make senses, no that’s not what I want to buy.
I want to buy a stats boost or an some kind of guaranteed win pack. For instances and PVP, where is it in the shop I can’t find it.
Those are like piss poor workaround, for plebs with no money.
Where is the good stuff in the shop?
You lost dude. Move along.
I won
What? did you find it?
Where is it, I want to buy wins too!
You know things come in degrees, right? I can only assume that you’re a tragically impoverished soul who goes through life pathetically thinking the only 2 colors are black and white. Of course there are far worse P2W games than WoW. By no means does that in any way refute the fact that I can go to the WoW shop, purchase millions of gold, and turn around and go to the Auction House and buy Mythic Raid Gear, wholly lawfully within the game’s rules. And, as yourself admit, I can even take my dollars and buy enough Gold to purchase a team to do the whole Mythic Raid for me, and funnel all of the gear my way. Or I can purchase Gold and spend that money to be carried to a particular PvP ranking.
Since I can purchase advantages of this kind with American Dollars earned outside of the game, the game is P2W by definition. If you don’t understand that, you’re a noob at life.
It’s literally the criteria that ushered in the term Pay-to-Win.
It literally isn’t. How old are you exactly, son? Because the term pay-to-win long predates Mobile games with the business model you are referring to, with special cash-shop only currencies. The original. correct, and still current meaning of pay-to-win simply refers to any game in which you can purchase in-game advantages for cash. There is no special requirement that the advantages must be only obtainable through cash, nor would such a requirement make any sense whatsoever. Please refrain from ignorantly opining on subjects you know nothing about in the future. Many thanks!
Still winning.
Have a great day
Winning what?
I’m trying to buy stats boost and you keep just teasing random bs stuff that are not what I want.
You’re very unhelpful.
I don’t want to buy gold.
That’s dumb, I want to buy stat boost and wins from the cash shop but you guys keep linking that Token that doesn’t do jack.
While gold boosts are allowed they are not officially supported, so no it’s not pay to win. If it WAS pay to win Blizz would be running the whole operation and actively encouraging people to boost.
No, you’ve based your definition of the word based on what gives you warm and fuizzy feelings inside and makes you still feel good about playing WoW.
The logically coherent and historically accurate definition of pay-to-win simply refers to any game where you can purchase advantages with real world money. I’m sorry this is tough for you to accept. I sympathize.
My feelings are buying Carries are most definitely a form of pay2win regardless before token or now.
Not so. Carries and Boosts are officially allowed and you cannot be banned for selling carries and boosts. Indeed, there have been cases where Blizzard employees have sold them and were criticized for doing so. While recently, WoW took the step of banning “boosting communities” they explicitly said they are not banning the practice of boosts.
Furthermore, even if Boosts were banned there would still be Mythic BoE gear sellable in the Auction House, so the argument stands even without carries.
The token buys both of those things. You’re welcome.
This.
I’ve “carried”…I mean “ran through” a bunch of lowbies (back in Vanilla Classic, when it was popular) through many dungeons, and they didn’t pay me, anything. I did it because I wanted to help them.
But, OFC, the “anti-boosting” community viewed that as “breaking the game” and “not being helpful”. At this point, especially on perma Vanilla Classic, these lowbies don’t have much of choice but for a kind high level, like myself, to run them through a dungeon.
All ThE GaMeS aRe P2w!
