Either Horde-side MG, or WrA, or Emerald Dream, or somewhere else?
I guess I am looking for a home for my Horde characters… I don’t really RP, though, and really just like how friendly and talkative MG is. The LookingForGroup channel is active at all times of day, trade chat has actual discussions (for better or for worse) and not just ad spam so fast you can’t even read the ads, and yes I enjoy seeing people’s TRP3s and how alive the world feels.
The last time I tried WrA though there wasn’t really anyone in Orgrimmar (not even in the Valley of Honor) anywhere during the day. I’m just curious if there really is an equivalent for Horde? Anyone have any experience?
To keep it painfully short,
Unfortunately, no.

Make a character on WrA and ED Hordeside and check out their Org in the evenings.

No not really. I loooove my horde rp. A lot of em either quit or went alliance when void elves became a thing. Emerald dream died when the PvP side took over. It’s legit just alliance moonguard. So I’m forced to play smelly elves or boring humies. Dwarf is fun, but a lot of people kinda ignore dwarves.
If you’re looking for walk up style to, MG-Horde unfortunately doesn’t have a strong presence in that form of rp. However we do have a rp community called The Horde Vanguard that occasionally host d20 events, and social events monthly!

MG Horde is kicking. The con is we are all mostly-functionally adults with lives outside the game, so not all of us can be online at all hours of the day tonaot around the city. For that reason a lot of MG Horde RP happens guild internally, Horde side community events, or with friends you meet on the server doing other stuff.
It always worth it to check out the specific servers your interested in yourself. Don’t take people’s words on the forums. Especially these forums on this topic, cause I give it about three hours before someone comes in here being vitriolic.

Ive been on MG Horde since BC launch, and i dont enjoy playing on any other server. The community and the feel are just… home. Even feels like home when i pop over to the blue side.
Its different though. Not a ton of walk up RP. But a ploethera of TRP3 profiles floating around the cities.
I will say Org is fairly dead all around with new content, until halfway through or specific events are going down. Dornogal and Tanaris are popping though.
Good thing is, with cross realm guilds now, its easy to cross over and check things out here and there.
TL;DR - Personal Opinion… i love MG Horde, and even the smelly blue side. Good luck with your decision!

You might be best in looking for an RP guild and joining one of the various RP Discords.
We’re well past the point where faction should be a choice at character creation, regardless of race. It’d be nice if Blizzard would just make it work already. Be an Orc in Stormwind, or a (Non-Earthen) Dwarf in Orgrimmar.

Put the War, back in Warcraft!

This. This is accurate on every rp-pvp or rp realm I’ve played on over the decade. Lol.
And, this. This is the best advice I have seen anyone give. I’ve spent a lot of time on ED and a little less on WrA or MG. You just really have to spend time on each realm. Level a character to 80 on each realm and you will have a good idea which realm you enjoy and have the most fun.
Cheers.
There is, it is just not to the size or random walk up city life that Alliance and Stormwind is.
Horde rp on MG is more guild focused. With some city rp happening randomly. However most of it is spent with events that are posted publicly about.
If you are looking to roleplay on horde MG, there are several, guilds out there as well as a horde community known as The Horde Vanguard.
If you are seeking that random walk up rp, then I do know that WRA has it.

I’ve RP’d with a lot of Horde gankers.
Emerald dream died when the PvP side took over.
Back towards the end of Burning Crusade/beginning of WotLK there was a huge RPer migration to MG across pretty much all the existing RP servers at the time (this was before WrA was a thing). I had taken a several month hiatus from the game at that point to focus on college and returned to find that literally every RP guild I knew on ED had moved here. Naturally I followed suit.
Maybe it bounced back a bit after that migration, but that’s what killed the RP community on ED as I recall… So it was less that the pure PvPers “took over” and more the server’s RP community ceded it to them.
It’s a shame, too. Emerald Dream had a small but vibrant RP community on both factions in Vanilla and TBC.

I legitimately think one of the best ways to make Horde RP happen would be to make RP friends/contacts you love to RP with and then roll together Horde. Not saying there isn’t Horde RP to be found, but that’s probably what I’d do-- bring a group with you, unless one of the larger project guilds appeal to you.
