Is there a way to call blizzard?

“Hello, Blizzard customer service, how may I assi…”

“OMG WTF why cant i get into this game when i want and on the server i want?! I am a paying customer!!!”

“I’m sorry, but the server you are trying to get into is over capacity. We are offering free transfers to lower pop servers where you can log in immediately”

“DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM??? I pay $15 / month, so I have the right to play when and where I want!!!”

“I’m sorry, but if we let everyone in at all times, the servers / game would be unstable and everyone would have issues”

“This is 2022, why don’t you have servers that can handle everyone?!”

“It doesnt just have to do with server resources, but also network resources, and the ability of the average player’s computer to handle that many other players”

“That’s so BS, I pay to play, not to sit in queue!!!”

“As I said earlier, other servers are available with no queue, and we are even offerring free transfers”

“I DONT WANNA!!! I REFUSE TO PLAY ON ANY OTHER SERVER!!!”

“I’m sorry, but those are the only available solutions.”

“I’M GONNA SUE YOU GUYS FOR NOT LETTING ME PLAY!!! MMMOOOOOOOMMMMMYY!!!”

“Thank you for calling Blizzard, have a nice day”

They got rid of talking to a human being in CS years ago.

It ended during the first part of Warlords.

Don’t forget the guy is in his 30s, too.

I want to call them, repeatedly, and ask them to relay my phone call to the message board.

Say stuff like, “I’m a paying customer with an account. Why can’t you post my messages as me?!!”

Then just call to chat about the game, what they think about the changes, nerfs, final fantasy, just regular phone a friend type chatting….:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Companies don’t like to voice chat.

Too much room for error.

Also, harder to review a voice conversation. Easier to review text chatting.

they removed humans, added automated systems and turned the support page into a endless loop where you cant actually find a solution to an issue, and if there is a ticket system, you have to be some master decoder to figure out where it lies, due to the endless looping of the support pages.

the ingame help is even worse. There is no hope if soemthing goes wrong now unlike a decade ago where you could pick a generic header and type in the problem and a GM would be in touch in 30 minutes. In my trial period back in mid bc when i was still lvl 15 or soemthing I fell off teldrassil and then fell off again as a ghost. Stuck with no hope. I submitted a support ticket and was restored back to playability in a very short amount of time.

It was such an easy and intuitive process that an absolute base level wow rookie could work it out in a minute. Good luck to them now. We have hoops inside hoops with spinning hoops that will gut you if you youch them, and razor wire hoops and fire hoops and jet turbines and a fusion reactor. All at once, while spinning on ones head with straws between their toes.

Both FFXIV and SWTOR do.

More like to cut costs.

It’s quite sad too.
— I once had my account hacked, sold - and then ‘Permanently banned’ – with apparently no chance @ appeal. My email account which was bound to my WoW-account was also beyond recovery, taken by the hacker as well.

Fortunately, Blizzard had a phone service to which I was able to explain – they were able to investigate (Upon seeing the IP addresses, it was pretty plain to see I was indeed hacked) and my account restored to my new email address.

I don’t know what I would had done without the phone service - since the online services did nothing but cease & desist any & all aid or discussion on the matter.

There are 3 or 4 ways to do that, calling them is not not one of them and has not been for around 10 years or more.

  • Ticket is used for most things that support can help with. It is VERY important to realize Blizzard does not allow GMs to give game hints, fix most bugs, or pass on suggestions. Those are wasted tickets and time.
  • Live Chat is available during working hours for the same issues we were supposed to use the phone line for - Billing, Account Access (lost passwords, email hacked, etc.), and some Tech Support.
  • Phone Callback was available pre- COVID for the same issues as Live Chat but Blizz is really picky about having everything recorded so that does not seem to be an option often now that people are work from home.

They ended the dial in for quite a few reasons.

  • People were calling it for all manner of things that the phone folks could not help with. Game tips, appeals, game suggestions, complaints about game design, just to talk with a GM for funsies, etc. IF you managed to get something besides a busy signal and get into queue, your wait on hold could be up to 2 hours.
  • Cell phones don’t play well with hold that long and depending on plan, cost money per minute.
  • Phone Callback let them sort issues first, and call back those who had a billing or account issue they handed via phone. Now that mostly goes to Live Chat.

Right now though, CS for Blizzard is overwhelmed and ticket times are around a week for the average ticket.

A faster way to get direct interactions most days is to ask on the Customer Support Forum. It serves as an Information Desk where people can find out if their issue is one that can be resolved via ticket, if so how to best put one in the correct category, get explanations of policy and such. Blues there are not GMs and it is not a substitute for a ticket. They can help make the most of a person’s ticket so they don’t waste time in queue for nothing.

Haven’t seen one in a bit.
Last time we (my head of house and me) got ahold of a rep on phone(6 months before pandem) to see if we could get my OG account back.Sadly it had been too long to restore.

As much as I generally hate talking in the phone I DO wish it was still an option (not just for WoW, for everything). Text chat is far more frustrating than a phone call ever was because all the responses are copy+pasted, seem robotic, and often have no relevance to what was asked or ask you to provide information you already provided. You may be chatting with a real person but the copy+paste nonsense makes it FEEL like you’re talking to a poorly programmed computer instead.

This doesn’t sound like it’s going to be friendly

There used to be.

But, like everything else that’s good, the player base abused it and they got rid of it.

I remember calling Blizzard for help on my account. A separate time, they helped my brother recover his old WoW account from an email he forgot how to access. They were really helpful both times. Trying to convince a bot my brother was indeed my brother would have been more difficult than talking to someone directly.

Luckily I have not had major issues that required phone service since those two issues. Kind of disappointing to hear that they removed that. But I guess I haven’t needed it in years, either. I have found the GMs helpful for most issues I have had. Nothing too complicated.

There is one way left for you to call Blizzard.

My understanding is that they no longer allow phone calls as a means of contacting Blizzard for no reason or for in-game support issues. You have to use the web ticket system for that.

However, again, AFAIK, you can still get live web chat or phone callback options for specifically Account & Billing issues. The option will not show up when making a ticket unless it’s one of those.

And the web ticket system is a whole problem in itself lol

How so? Its pretty standard. Yes its menu hell, but that’s the norm to try and sift out random “IM STUCK ON THIS QUEST” garbage that bogs down the system making wait times longer for legit tickets.
