Is there a cap for the week on Bountiful Delves?

He didn’t do his weeklies + the one Sir Finley gives for free?

But if people don’t understand how Delves work, as the OP seems not to, telling someone there’s a cap is not a good way to go. Explaining to them that there are only so many you will probably see a week makes sense. But we don’t want people to think “if we can only get 4 a week and there’s a cap, that must mean there’s a cap of only 4 keys total.”

It’s just clarification for those who don’t understand the system.

Makes you wonder is Blizzard doing a terrible job or something, someone the other day made a topic complaining about why only 4 keys despite echoes, renown, and shards are a thing.

My understanding of what comes from where seems to be SoulsoBreezy or Wowhead, so… LOL

yeah, i can see that. I think the bigger issue is making sure folks know how to acquire them, and the limit - per week - one can expend. Cap or no cap. Because even the in-game currency tab is woefully obscure, coupled by the fact that the key shards manifest in our inventory and take up space/add “encumbrance”. But the restored keys do not.

it is possible to get a radiant echo in a bountiful, but those will typically net you - at most - 28-30 shards, or just a little over a quarter of a restored key.

Thus, eventually there are diminishing returns: you burn a key in 1 bountiful, you may get .25 of a key back - through the process of key shard acquisition via World Soul Memories using a Radiant Echo. (And folks comment BFA was system-y :upside_down_face:, though I suppose this stuff can be, to some extent, disregarded in a way Azerite couldn’t)

I don’t think most delvers know about radiant echoes or how they work tbh. Even the scoring system in echoes is obscure and we just HAD a blue post explain it when that info could’ve been helpful in S1.

I was able to acquire 7 Radiant Echoes on one character and 6 on another. Used five, there were only 3 of us in the Worldsoul event, came out with 133 shards.

I learned by doing them last season that 100 points net me 25 shards - just trial n’ error and seeing what each run yielded. anything over that was kinda logarithmic - less gains, essentially. the beauty of doing a +5 was just timeliness and efficiency. I would usually wait 'til i had 5, look on group finder, and see if anyone was forming. even just a party would make the 5 minute ‘local island expedition thing’ pretty painless. you’d get 5x the shards, thus roughly 1.25 keys worth.

yeah, that tracks. If you did 1 echo solo, you’d divide 133 by 5 and get the ~26/27 shards I was mentioning earlier. It’s really just about giving players options. If you “only” have 1-4 echoes, blizz doesn’t lock you outta participating in activities that convert your hard work in an echo to key shards.

Yeah that’s the sucky part, I was being mighty stingy with my echoes until I understood the system better online. Then saw I was get roughly 175-180 shards and doing them in raid groups.

Once you lose them, you lose them. :expressionless:

oh yeah, I wish there was a tutorial on this. This kinda stuff should be part of the leveling process. Narratively, it makes sense, and it could be used to teach players. Kinda like you needed to do a delve during the MSQ, main story quest.

give players a ‘free’ radiant echo to use in a scenario-based world soul. let them see how it works. have voice actors explain the mechanics with in-game cutscenes, too.

There is so much nuance here, that I’m fortunate to have been so embedded in these kinds of games/systems, but even still, it was a trial and error and noting what happened when I went in these things…and sometimes the spawn rates were wildly off from each world soul, too…

There are so many place in the game to get coffer keys. All of the zone “special assignment” chests drop keys, theater troupe, spreading the light, the meta weeklies, probably awakening the machine, the wqs for 1/4 coffer keys, the radiant echoes events. I’ve never been sort of coffer keys. I had a ton left over last season.

Anyway you’ll probably never really be short any keys. But you might get a lot of gear dupes if you farm bountiful delves too hard.

I desperately need the new black transmog set from Delves. So much so that I’m impatient and may actually try to PvP for those bloody token things or whatever they are. LOL

yeah, there are number of ways like this article shows. However, we won’t be able to open all possible 28 bountiful chests per week, week over week. I think this is a good thing as, while it’s not a cap on keys per se, it’s a cap on their acquisition per week, which helps moderate ilevel inflation between folks for whom delves are their ideal gearing route

man, that was me in S1 with the set i’m currently wearing. I didn’t even care about the gear throughput, i just wanted that sweet, sweet mog! :blue_heart:

28, or when you run out of keys, whichever happens first.

I didn’t even know there was mog, lol. Does that Sir Findlay guy sell it?

I seem to get very into delves for about a month and drop down to a few a week as the season goes on. I might go more into the 11s for the gilded crests this time around.

Still don’t understand how this track thing work, I think I’m like one more reward away from unlocking keys.

Should be able to get it this reset or next at best.

Not the new one, no. But you can see what it looks like from the War Mode PvP vendor.

everytime you complete a bountiful delve - usually when defeating the end boss - T4 and above, there will be a pop-up displaying “delver’s journey” currency. It’s really quick, and if you’re like me and still chasing that high of “hell yeah, beat you, dumb boss dude,” it’s easy to miss:

As you procure more of this currency, it automatically ‘fills’ the bar displayed under the group-finder menu (default key “i”) and then delves tab.

this is mine, just now:

Oh that’s interesting. I already have some of that bloody token gear. It’s super easy to get. Turn on war mode on isle of Dorn, there is not as many pvp’ers up there. We all hang out and brawl in the underzones lol.

I did get that delver’s bar filled last season, mostely to get the Adventurer gear. Which by that I even my alts didn’t need anymore.

Yeah, mine is somewhere within that range. However, I’ve done some bounties today and yesterday and it didn’t fill up, similar with Brann’s XP.

Guess that means I’m capped. :woman_shrugging:
