Since after the story of Zul’aman pretty much the Twilight’s Blade cultists are gone and few are pretty much leftovers which I ask myself is the Twilight’s Blade going to be around and a continue threat later down the line in Midnight and next expansion? So far after few mentions during the invasions and even Zul’aman storyline twilight’s blade is just forgotten. Unless if I forgot something later down the line for patch 12.0.7
The Twilights blade will most likely continue to be a threat in Midnight. The group we kill during the zone assaults and ritual sites are only one of the many spliter factions that formed following the death of Mor’duun and Xal’ataths disappearance.
There are hints in the epilogue of the 12.1 campaign that the Twilights Blade are aware of where Kith’ixs burial site is (Atal’Utek) and with Ula’tek now dead, there is nothing stopping them from resurrecting the C’thraxxi.
Plus while the Zul’Aman cultists seemed to be digging in and waiting for Xal’atath to come back for them, and seem poised to take advantage of Kith’ix becoming available to awaken, the Eversong branch’s Void Assault activities suggest their loyalty has wavered more and they’ve started seeking alternative sources of power. Namely, the lingering Scourge magics and Dar’khan’s undeath research that they’ve uncovered at Deatholme. It’s been indicated that the two groups have already been at odds over that changed loyalty since she and the Devouring Host vanished.
When it comes down to it, the Twilight’s Hammer is foremost a doomsday cult, so they’ve changed paymasters at times whenever they think something else will bring about their desired end of the world. They mostly stuck with the Old Gods and their proxies on Azeroth for as long as at least one Old God still lived, but back on Draenor they willingly latched onto the Burning Legion’s agenda via the Horde because it offered its own path toward Armageddon, and later with the Old Gods gone they gravitated toward Xal’atath when she approached them. So while those in ZA seem to still be on her team and possibly furthering her agenda (depending upon whether Kith’ix would truly have any sort of allegiance to her; she did historically betray his gods, after all), those in Eversong might have already severed ties altogether and be pursuing other paths to usher in their own apocalypse without her.
At the very least they’re probably not done for Midnight, and it wouldn’t necessarily be surprising if Twilight activity endures even into The Last Titan, whether by the continuing Void angle or perhaps some attempt by surviving members from Deatholme to ally with or take over any remaining Cult of the Damned and Scourge forces up in Northrend.
Think about how many times Blizzard has gone into the Scarlet Crusade well. And think about all the versions of Twighlight ______ we have gotten.
So,
Are they going to come back? It is almost a guaranteed thing.
Personally. After the actions of the Eversong faction of the Blade, I could see a merger of the remaining Twilight’s Blade, and the Cult of the Damned. Perhaps providing us with a good overworld villain faction for TLT.
Of course, we know from various grey items that dropped in the Void Assaults, that there is at least one more faction of the Twilight’s Blade who have not shown themselves.
I wonder what they’d call it. The Damned Blade? The Twilight Damnation? ![]()
