Is the lower Kara death skip worth it?

It seems fairly standard to do a suicidal ‘death skip’ after Opera to quickly return to the start of the dungeon. I believe it certainly does save time, but its on the order of 10 - 20 seconds.** To be sure, we’ve probably all depleted keys by less time, but I would wager that these few seconds are unlikely to cause a deplete in the vast majority of groups.
It takes about 1 minute to run back from Opera and various speed boosts can shorten that time. If 5 people die (which also takes time), you lose 25 seconds and have a loading screen. I think it is saving the group at most 30 seconds, but more likely about 10 - 20.
10 seconds is greater than zero and I can understand the argument, for some groups, that any time saved is worthwhile. But it seems like a stretch to me in the general case. And if you re-apply your food buff, it’s probably a net time loss.
Anyway, I post this in the hopes that people won’t expect me to always suicide after Opera.
**I am assuming that the group is willing to skip Zul’gamux.

It used to be extremely worth it, not only for the shorter run back, but also because the trash after Opera was extremely hard and unrewarding, and because fighting Maiden last made hitting her DPS check a little easier back when it was overtuned.

I’m not sure it’s as necessary now with all the nerfs, but most people still do it out of habit.

It’s kind of personal choice now

The mobs were nerfed alot since this method was made

So it’s no longer torture to do the mobs behind the opera event

Even post-nerfs I am skeptical that the trash is worth it between Opera and the Ushers. There are so many ways to get your enemy forces count in Lower Kara that there is not much reason to pull slow trash.
To be clear, I am not asking if the trash after Opera is worth killing – it is probably not. My question is whether the group should suicide compared to simply running back. It saves about the same amount of time that it takes to get a food buff. So, ultimately, is it better to save 15 seconds or keep your food buff early in the run?

No idea what the meta is now, but I’d at least kill Zulgamux and whatever Dreadlords are pullable from the stage.

Yes, do the skip.

I did a few 15s this week, with skips and without. And its much faster to skip than to not skip even on non-fortified.

Absolutely. The trash downstairs is a mess.

While for a perfect team that makes no mistakes trying to get the best time possible, the skip might not be worth it, for the rest of us schlubs, the skip carries the extremely significant benefit of working through trash from a direction where if someone dies or there’s a wipe, the recovery from that is much more forgiving.

Not worth. Stop inting your keys and start investing in Dreadcoin.

The death skip was popular at the start of the season. After the many nerf hammers and balancing of force count, it is better to kill Zulgamux and then invis skip the downstairs.

Death skipping is no longer the best route.

Death skipping is an automatic 40+ second time sink with time loss on death and the run back from respawn to short cut. It isn’t worth it.

Nah, the reverse. You invis backstage, play singers, then pull Zulgy down.

Phantom Crews are yucky. 1 phantom crew gives 1/3 the forces of an usher, does more damage, and has the same hp. They’re so bad to fight.

You should have been in the other thread. Someone was trying to tell me and others that it was more efficient to death skip, do moroes, attumen, then run all the way back up to maiden.

Yeah Ushers are great now.

It saves a lot of time, but if you have trouble with bosses it doesn’t matter imo

What time is it saving if you are missing out on all the % that you have to make up later anyway?

It was only the go-to route at the start because the dungeon was new and wipes were inevitable and running back from wipes is what ate up time.

In a pug? It absolutely is, yes. In all the lower keys I have ran these are always the smoothest.

It’s okay not to on purpse… but if they are adamant that they will not go the other way even if the group wipes then I’m out. I’m not wasting my time.

Food buff is 10 sec…
If the group died to the trash after opera they are going to die again. The deaths + running is way more of a time loss.

Yeah this makes no sense. Opera trash, other than phantom crews, is THE most efficient trash. Not only that mind you, but Opera trash is the best source of Dreadlords buffs.

It was in the “Is it doable” thread if you want to face palm.

That’s what I was saying, the trash % around maiden is crap, if you’re dead set on that route the % is blah and you have to make it up, the only reason I could see people going back and clearing trash is waiting for lust to comeback before heading to the next boss which some people do.

Ok. If you wipe on accident you can go left, but if you wipe on accident to easy trash you might as well pack up your bags because your key is likely to die anyways.
