Is the game dying? Should they stick to the "Just like release" attitude?

It’s just a game. What we really need to worry about is real life dying? Get up at 4 AM. No one is around. Almost all the stores are closed. No on is on the street, there are almost no cars. Go to your job. None of the friends you usually see there will be seen. Where are they? Why aren’t they at work? I don’t read the news because it’s all fake but I do watch The Walking Dead. Is there some plague that’s keeping people in their homes? If they die will they come back as zombies? Some thing is happening. I don’t know what it is but it’s scary.

The forums, “Blizzard, how dare you remove layering with no notice. Everyone got stuck in a queue and we had to cancel our raid !”.

Also the forums, “The game is dying!”.

maybe try joining other realm and you will see the difference. you will see the difference and most likely have no queue.

I’m thinking maybe you meant to reply to someone else? I don’t understand your comment.

Yes OP. The game is dying.

You should quit now before the sky falls on you.

Also, tighten your tin foil hat.

But it is… this is the most fun I’ve had in any game since, well, Vanilla. There are TONS of people on my server even early in the morning.

Read years of posts leading up to this moment that spell out exactly how the population would fluctuate. The drop off has been much less steep than most people imagined… it will stabilize at some point, because there are a lot of us that aren’t going anywhere for a long time.

You’re right mom, as always!

I myself was blown away by the announcement some months back that Classic would be a thing as I quit WoW during the wrap-up days of WotLK as I didn’t like the game in what it became anymore. I left intending to never return but a week after Classic launched I figured “What the hell!”

I don’t have nearly as much time to play as i used to but frankly, I’m having more fun now than when I was fresh our of school with nothing but time to kill and I only get maybe 10-12 hours per week to even play the game between work, life, fatherhood, errands, and the all important sleep.

I was expecting for the population to drop like an anvil after the first month for Classic but on the three servers that I do play on to this day, NONE of them seem to have had much attrition that is apparent to me as a casual player and finding groups to play with is pretty easy and quick.

Obv everyone’s perspective is a bit different but for what it’s worth I’ve never ONCE logged on and felt like any of the, even low pop servers, were “dead.”

They need to come out with BG’s. I dont understand why they are waiting so long

Youre just realizing now that all the “zomg” vanilla was SOOOOOOO much better than retail, were people who likely never played vanilla wow?

By todays standards vanilla is BORING… I still enjoy it, but reality is, it is boring. In retail you always have achieves to hunt dow….mounts to collect…rares to hunt…transmog…far greater solo’ing ability.

Im not defending or denigrating either version, what I AM saying though is, that I think some who were complaining about retail perhaps are seeing things in a different light.

game is dead you hear? DEAAAAAD
abbandon ship ! the end is night!

well if that’s how you feel, that’s all the proof you need. my lying eyes keep telling me there’s a 5-10 minute queue when I try to log in.

We all know this game isn’t going to retain many people. Who knows how long I’m gonna play.

Sadly, in the face of a tremendous success, Ion and friends have begun to sabotage Classic to keep it from completely eclipsing BfA.

The damage of layering exploits, and now releasing Dire Maul so early in Classic’s progression is irreparable. Add to this the handling of servers, population, and balance… and they’ve done plenty to cripple Classic.

Now add the China debacle… and Blizzard has just went out of it’s way to fail in every way.

The game is going to decline pretty quickly now… and Blizzard will be able to go back to it’ position of authority and state “We told you you didn’t, and you really didn’t…”

Ah well… it was still a blast to level a few alts up and enjoy the world as it was supposed to be… if even for a couple months.

I haven’t been on for two reasons…

  1. New job focused on learning and getting good along with my second job time gone
  2. OverwAtch terror for 3 weeks. Get skins and event stuff

Then will be back on wow classic. With OverwAtch I can play fast and log…

Busy and also started playing some Ultimate Skyrim again and re-addicted to that now. Don’t worry, I’ll be back - but never for modern WoW.

Not sure about dying. But it just calming down. People will return when PvP will be a thing. Right now I completed my main goal got 60, and I stumbled across problem that my server is Alliance populated so as horde I have struggling to get groups to dungeons and raids I need. So Every day for me becomes logging > stand at capitals and spam LFG > then logout cause no groups needed another rogue.

I know that I can create grp myself, but this will be the same. I have only few hours to play per day and when you gathering a group people leaving and coming almost non stop, and eventually you spend hour or more just to get to the point that you need a tank and you will never find one. So group disbands and I log off. Happens every few tries and it pisses me but still it’s the “BEAUTY” of vanilla…

I seem to be logging in a lot less after hitting 40.I never played Back in the day.I had heard and read that Pallies got a quest at 40 to get a mount,I grinded to 40 ,some questing, lots of killing mobs,on a Ret Pally.Pretty boring, but I wanted that unique quest.Which turned out to be more like “Hi there,I have something for you!.Want it?”.No quest at all.It kind of ruined it for me.

You do realize layering allowed people to login and play the first month right?

It was never going to be as active out of the gate and they will likely be merging servers by christmas anyways, due to low population.

Servers are capped, layers are gone and queues are there due to the removal of layers (very few servers btw)

The attrition will continue. Its the minority of servers that are heavily populated.

Blizzard didnt do this. The players did.

Why anyone would expect a company to create a 100 servers to fold it into 25 or less in 3 months time?

So you think that “the China debacle” was something done to damage Classic? Really?
