Is TBC confirmed?

I don’t know anyone that’s gotten one personally but someone told me that you needed to be subbed for 6 consecutive months prior to the survey in order to receive it. That would automatically disqualify me since I only subbed for classic.

I mean they haven’t made a literal official announcement but they sent out a survey asking what the community thought would be the most appropriate logistics for rolling it out when the time came.

So while not officially announced, I would think it’s pretty clear and definitively certain it is on the table.

Not officially, but there’s leaks that guarantee its announcement. It’s not a matter of it, but when. With the time frame of everything I’ll be shocked if there isn’t a Blizzcon announcement in February.

It is 100% confirmed, wrath is also already confirmed. Some interview a blizzard devsaid they were working on tbc and wrath already.

Everyone else is in some sort of dum ignorance is bliss deal when they try to deny tbc.

Saying we don’t know if there will be TBC is like saying we don’t know if there will be another retail expansion before it’s announced, there’s close to a 100% chance TBC is going to be released. The poll wasn’t even asking if you would play TBC to gauge interest, it was about what transition option you would like best.

That’s not the only evidence anymore. Classics beta client recently went back up on the CDN which means they’re clearly testing something that’s not intended to be public/for Classic and there wouldn’t be anyway because Classic is finished. Secondly, Nano, who was a Nost dev said someone he knows on the inside confirmed a beta for BC will happen in either March or April of 2021. I’d take that speciifc date with a grain of salt and things can change, but either way, there’s lots of evidence pointing towards BC being on its way. There’s other evidence, but I don’t remember off the top of my head.

Not to mention the fact that popular content creators themselves seem quite confident that BC is coming considering they’re already making videos. Would not be shocked if they too know something, they got a bunch of Classic info long before it was public too, although if it was from Blizzard themselves, they’d probably be under NDA.

Because the the head developer who got brought back was like hell yeah tbc is coming out we planned all the way to wrath when making classic.

He said it in an interview around classic alpha.

You hit the nail on the head. There is a (sometimes subtle) feeling of fear from many of the posters who loathe TBC for potentially taking away so many players from classic. But the classic players and TBC players must find a way to get along. We will both share the same server. Classic content may be a ghost town, or maybe it won’t. In any case, with the game moving forward as it did originally, it would be awful if this causes a big divide within each server community.

Saying “it’s stupid not to do it” has never been a form of proof for anything really. If you ask a mathematician “why is this theorem true?” you’ll never see their proof simply being “it would be stupid for this theorem to not be true!”

With all things considered I think TBC will eventually happen but it won’t be May and I even doubt Blizzard themselves have even decided on an official date yet. The rest is just conjecture.

I think if they have anything to announce ready to go, they’ll announce it then. If there’s no announcement at Blizzconline, my bet is financial worries holding it back.

we might just be alone on this one. im ready to bet every piece of gold i have in this game that they’ll let the hype and demand build for it even longer.

as it sits now, TBC isnt in any danger of becoming abandonware. i feel thats the only reason we got classic in the first place. referrance “the wall of no” and “you think you do…”
sure blizzard likes money, but they certainly aren’t hurting for it either.

The release date was confirmed as April 31. Mark that date on your calendar.

Yeah it’s just not Blizzard’s style to both announce and drop games so closely together last minute like that. As you said, they like to build up a lot of hype and do a lot of promotion prior to actual game releases.

Classic hasn’t even settled yet after Naxx release, I think it’s safe to say they aren’t rushing anything out that soon.

Because we want to play them. Badly. Some of us seriously don’t even care about classic but we are still here biding our time anyways for the sake of TBC or wrath.

Vanilla has tons of issues that are alleviated in the first 2 expansions.

Nope, coming out much earlier feb 29th.

It ends when there is no demand for it. A lot of people want TBC. A lot of people want Wrath. There will be TBC and Wrath servers 100%.

As a player whom preffers TBC over the rest of the expansions i can say there are alot of TBC players playing classic in hopes that with its success we would get TBC.

Now then from all the TBC players i have spoken to no one wants Classic servers to go away. Everyone supports Eternal classic servers because in the long run TBC players want eternal TBC servers.

Your concern with classic servers becoming a ghost town is a valid concern. No one wants classic servers to become ghost towns because we don’t want that for TBC either.

Solution?

Simple.

All the servers progress to TBC with the option to transfer downward to a Classic eternal server to funnel all the classic eternal players into a few more condensed servers ensuring no ghost towns.

Because if the transfers go upward you still run the risk of ghost towns. So the transfers have to be downward to prevent this. With that reasoning this is why Transfers downward are the best choice for all.

Its coming. Theres too much money in it. Subs will increase with minimal effort on Bliz’s part.

Depends on your perspective on “Classic”. The general idea is original WOW, or Vanilla. (Granted, you can make an argument on how close to the original it actually is). On some other forums, “Classic” is the WOW before the modern version or before it started making drastic changes. In this case, it would be Vanilla thru Lich King.

Ultimately, I doubt Blizz will go the route of other games such as Everquest that created classic/progression servers that would open the next expansion when a certain timeframe or criteria has been met. Everquest’s design and mechanics haven’t changed much since 98. Whereas, WOW as undergone considerable design changes over the years (more specifically with Character Advancement).

I personally hope TBC releases sooner than later. Guilds are clearing Nax already. For the “not-as-die-hard” people, that means they’ve beaten the game and they will jump ship for something else. Most likely, Shadowlands. Blizz will keep the sub, but the classic population will begin to stagnate; as it is already on some servers.

The ultimate question is: how many of the classic players will quit playing classic in lieu of Shadowlands?

Splitting the base and none of them being able to survive is the obvious worry.
