Is TBC classic a good idea?

Whenever I’m playing one, I’d rather be playing the other. Classic is like camping frontier style with no electricity in the Gobi desert

Retail is “camping” in your RV with TV, the PS5, and phones at the KOA.

and there’s no indication it will be in classic tbc

I was more excited about the idea of tbc. However, after seeing how badly both the community and blizzard ruined classic I want no part of it.

I didn’t bother with vanilla classic.

Plenty of people would love anything between Vanilla and WotLK. Demand will drop off heavily after that.

You’d be surprised, MoP and to a lesser extent cata have pretty good pops and constantly have people asking when the next fresh is.

WoD however has like… 24 people on a servers on avg, BfA pservers have more traffic.

I do

I’m waiting on Classic wrath

I’ll do everything in my 0 power to make that not happen lol

It started with classic and was enough of a cash cow that continuing on with “legacy” servers is probably a good thing. I know a large portion of the player base claim Wrath to be their favorite.

So gotta go through BC to get to Wrath. So on and so forth. Everyone has their preference and they’ll see sales/subs surge at the release of each new one. And that’s probably enough of a reason for them to justify the trend

Classic vanilla is a 15 year old game for simpletons. Of course we need TBC. I already played it, so have no desire, personally. That goes for them both.

Probably shouldn’t directly talk about pservers here.

Also, mildly populating 1 or 2 servers is quite a bit different than the kind of numbers Classic is pulling.

I admit MoP is probably the next “hype” thing that might see people asking for Classic servers after WotLK, but I still think the dropoff after WotLK will be significant enough for it to never happen.

Cata? Nah. Not unless their plan is to literally just go down the line forever x number of expansions behind Retail.

Can you imagine, many years from now…

“COME RELIVE THE GREAT MEMORIES AND GAMEPLAY OF CLASSIC WARLORDS OF DRAENOR!”
[Selfie-cam available at launch from cash store]

Pservers numbers are only a small taste.

Nost was massive but paled compared what classic pulled.

If they think cata and on will make money, they’ll do them, and I hope they do.

MoP Classic would be my new favourite thing.

Best expansion ever. The best fun I’ve ever had with the game.

Just as long as a MoP Classic patched in the fix for the glacially slow levelling that was a massive problem at the start of the expansion (complete a quest, then get out a microscope to see if your XP bar moved!)

Eh, the XP thing was a problem that cata created by going to 5 levels instead of 10.

They tried to make the leveling experience just as full, while only providing 5 levels.

If it comes in on the last patch like classic and tbc are doing, the xp fixes should be in.

As long as future Classic releases makes ActiBlizz money, Blizzard will continue on this path. I’m guessing that WoW’s survival pretty much depends on it given the drops in retail subs a few months after launch and then after the first patch. What else is there to plug the hole in the off years? Mobile WoW games? Not a trace so far.

It’s done by other companies and they would not do it if the demand was not there truth be told. If it provides entertainment for a mass of people than I think it’s good in my book.

I’m only playing classic now because of TBC classic. I have no interest in vanilla end game. But I am very interested in BC end game.

If they didn’t announce TBC classic, and they continued developing retail the way they are, I’d probably just be playing FFXIV full time instead.

This was a wise move to retain my subscription.

I will also be on board for Wrath as well. After that, IDK. I’m hoping retail gets new direction, or FFXIV fixes the issues with leveling and storing cosmetics.

What would be amazing:

“COME RELIVE WARLORDS OF DRAENOR - AND EXPERIENCE ALL THE CUT CONTENT FOR THE FIRST TIME! NEW FACTION CITIES! MOVEABLE GARRISONS! A TRAIN TRHOUGH GORGROND AND BEYOND! WE’VE HAD YEARS TO FINALLY GET THE EXPANSION FINISHED, SO COME BACK TO DRAENOR - FOR THE FIRST TIME!”

Yeah, but it was still slower than usual. MoP had a TON of quest content and their goal seemed to be to make you do almost all of it. Once the fixed the XP problem, the expansion was much better - you could pick and choose the quest hubs each character would do.

I mean, that wasn’t my experience, hell, you could skip an entire zone.

Tbc is better than vanilla in almost every way. Don’t get me wrong, vanilla is great, but tbc is, even to the day 1 ogs (most of them anyways), see tbc as the pinnacle of WoW. So, I think TBC and wrath classic are 100% warranted.

I personally would play cataclysm classic because I have fond memories of the xpac. I’m not gonna try to argue it was a great xpac cause I don’t wanna open that can of worms but honestly I doubt cata classic will be a thing.

The only way I could see it being a thing is if they go through MoP due to Legion introducing m+. The fundamentals of WoW had changed before legion but m+ is a clear line to draw in the sand if you have to I suppose.
