Is Silvermoon the Worst Designed MMO Main City?

Way to big, Dornogal was perfect.

Dornogal was a literal hole in the ground.

depends on what you mean worst, worst design, worst optimized, worst looking.

Other then the optimization i think it’s decent not the best but far from worst.

Oh if we’re talking about prettiness and artwork - I think it looks fantastic. I’m mostly discussing intuitiveness and navigation.

I can never find anything in Orgrimmar. For me it is still peak terrible city design, and piss ugly to boot. It’s like an overgrown murloc encampment that got sacked by Huns and then rebuilt by drunk goblins.

I mainly play Horde, but have a handful of Alliance characters and I can never find my way around Stormwind. While I like the looks of the city, its way to confusing for me. LOL

I don’t mind silvermoon. There’s probably things that I don’t know are there but it’s whatever.

Boralus was peak, though.

Dazar’alor, by far.

People forgot the Shrines in MoP exist I guess. Also the WoD camps lol.

Will say, their modern city design seems to be trying to emulate Suramar in a lot of ways, but without the talent to pull it off. Obviously the majority of the art team has cycled over since Legion, and the replacements are nowhere near that level.

We’ll get cities that are ā€œgoodā€ but they’re usually empty. Lots of dead space, unused areas, and generic NPCs. Feel like this was most evidence in Dornogal and current Silvermoon.

SMC isn’t great, not the worst though.

I think Undercity and Oribos are the worst, 2 circle cities, hate them both.

I mained an Undead Priest for 10 years, still got lost in that hell hole UC.

Daz was annoying, looked good though, but pales in comparison to Boralus.

omg what a…omg

No, dude. Oribos was by far the worst hub city we’ve ever had. That place was one of the biggest headaches this game has ever had.

Oribos. The design was ok, but the implementation of it was horrible. One way ports, no mounting, ugh.

this is the only clear winner

IMHO the worst city is Oribos. You can’t fly. Silvermoon is an amazing redesign. Absolutely captured the essence of the blood elf opulence. I appreciate all the little things that Silvermoon has. The details are absolutely amazing. There are things that I don’t like, such as it’s missing stuff that old Silvermoon has…guild hall being one of them.

Undercity is a close second to the worst, merely because it’s very claustrophobic. But the layout makes sense.

Thunderbluff is a close third because they removed the portals and it’s so far off the beaten path.

Daz isn’t even in the running, IMO. Yeah, it is spread out, but you have portals. The only thing that irks me about Daz is that the flight whistle takes you closer to the docks instead of how it originally was…the portals.

Edit…the Exador is tied for second. It’s technically a capital city, but it’s not treated as one. That’s sad.

Second edit: after consideration…Daz is a close third.

Everything does look samey unlike stormwind.

oh my god yes! Especially at launch without flying, was genuinely a nightmare

I don’t know about the worst, but the Sanctum of Light should have the highest piece of architecture visible from anywhere on the ground.

It was a long run to get anywhere. I completely blocked that from my memory.

Edit…ok Daz is is a close third on my list.

Worst? No, in Shadowbane there was a city that had the stairways to the ramparts on the outside of the city so that the enemy could bring trebuchets up there and destroy the entire city while leaving the walls up.
