Is the 250 budget limit EVER EVER EVER going to be raised?
Yes!
Iām sure you next question will be āWHEN WHEN WHENā but nobody knows that as the specific date (and budget increase) have not yet been disclosed by the devs.
Iām not sure why it would be increased. I sit, like everyone, right at 250. If I want to add something, then I have to delete something. It would be the same if I had a 400-decor budget.
Yes, but you can do a lot more with a 400 budget than a 250 one.
I could, for example, build my stable/carriage house and keep my garden/greenhouse.
Iām not opposed to decor placement limits. But right now, a lot of us feel like weāre being asked to use only the 4-pack of crayons when we knowwwww (with all the certainty of childhood) that there are bigger packs with more colors out there.
Iām trying to be patient, and I donāt expect to get a 64-pack with a built-in sharpener (at least not immediately). But I would sure like just a little more budget.
Except youād have more creative freedom. Thereās nothing wrong with sitting at the decor limit. I made my house into an airship. I had to get pretty creative not only in the shipās design to make it fit within the 250 limit. It required making cuts to various ideas I had that I felt would have been cool, but ultimately I didnāt have enough build limit to make it work the way I wanted it to. I think having a higher limit would better enable to fulfill my artistic vision.
I believe that it will be raised as they have communicated in the past that they intend to. I think they are still working out how to let people use more of the lighting decor outside without having the technical issues that they ran in to in Alpha/Beta testing.
Right now my exteriors are at or nearly at 250 so I am holding off on trying out any other exterior ideas until they raise the limit and allow lighting. I read that there are a lot of new decor items coming soon and there are a lot of garden type items so I am hoping they raise the limit at that time.
The things I can do with 400 budget⦠Iād replace my gun range with another structure (whether it be a toolshed or a garden), add accents to my pathway to make it pop out more, and if I can, add an addition to the already natural pier next to my plot.
I think if they would make fencing a part of the house customization instead of counting towards decor then 250 would be enough for most people. Doing a full fence (or even partial one) will eat up most of your budget.
Just make a tab in the customization screen for fencing and let you click on a prefabbed fence of the types you have collected, and it just pops up like a tower or whatever on your house. No fence should remain an option of course.
ā¦and how do you tell it where you want a gate or other opening in the fence? What if you want a fence on only one side or just two? I think people would treat it like the stairwell rooms, theyād find it works much better to make your own custom fence rather than use the default stairway room. Iām not sure Iād ever use a auto-fence option as you describe.
My own fencing cost about 51 of the 250 budget with custom pathing going for 23 points (74pts total). What is eating up my decoration points thou are nature props specifically bushes, trees, and similar stuff. I only have 4 boulders going for 20 total, 3 Arathi Trellis for 15.
A higher outdoor budget would allow me to put down more vegetation and possibly a raised platform for my house. I have a few decorations I could replace, but thereās never enough to do what I would like unless I make some hard decisions.
If the limit was raised then I could finish my treehouse deck at my alliance house, with food cooking on the stove and a cover over the book reading area. Maybe put a hammock and some plants beneath the deck, too. And at my silvermoon-style horde beach house I could finally raise my gazebo and put curving stairs or a ramp up to it, and have an outdoor cooking/entertaining area.
In short, I could be so much more creative with my housing plots if I had more than just a 250 budget. I do not want to have so many lights that it would blind an aircraft pilot, nor do I wish to use fencing to surround my plot (sorry, that doesnāt match my aesthetic).
Hopefully never. It apparently caused problems in beta. Thereās no need for more clutter in the yard.
I think on my alliance home Iām around 217, so Iām okā¦for now, but I do have some ideas someday if they give us more items Iām looking forward to and when they start allowing more lighting out there again. IF/WHEN we get Forsaken looking outsides, then Iāll go crazy on outside stuff for my horde home, but for now Iām good with a simple belf appearance and donāt need much over there. Would like some dang pine trees to match the ones in the mountain area thoughā¦
The outdoor decor limit because even worse since Blizzard added āinterior wallsā to the outdoor decor catalog.
Now you can add additional smaller buildings next to you house, but this eats outdoor budget like popcornā¦
Also simple stuff like smaller plants and fence parts should only cost 1 outdoor budget each.
Outdoor lights should be allowed but they should have a separate budget. So we can place a limited number of outdoor lights but it wonāt allow to place 150 camp fires.
Ohā¦.I just ran into this limit and wasnāt aware leveling up my house wouldnāt fix it until I saw this thread. It feels like I have very little placed outside. Ugh!
TBH, if I could have one or the other, Iād rather them first reduce the item ācostā per asset.
The current limit is due to a rendering issue. They are changing how houses and decor render in 12.0.5 (per the notes). So hopefully after that we can get budget increases and eventually get outdoor lighting back.
Yeah, this one bugs me. Normally people would just put a porch light and maybe a light at the gate, path, and/or patio, but thereās always gotta be some chucklehead that ruins it for everyone else.
Your idea for a lighting budget is a good one, but I would imagine it would be labor intensive to test each individual light for how much budget it has to count towards the cap.
My only suggestion is to make objects as big as possible especially if they are platforms and walls so you can place fewer to cover more area. Remove pieces that are covered up if they canāt be visually seen in the final product.
