Is mistweaver (not fistweaver) viable?

Can i run dungeons with traditional mistweaving as opposed to fistweaving for leveling and possibly low keys at max level, or is fistweaving significantly more effective?

You can run it. It’s less effective but not unviable.
How you would level without using melee (fistweaving) abilities, I’m not sure. Crackling Jade Lightning is pretty weak.

In regards to keys, for sure, you can run Soothing Mist, Essence Font, and the like and do a more traditional casting playstyle.

Idk why people even want to play mistweaver, it feels the same as all the other caster healers just less effective

FISTWEAVING ON THE OTHER HAND oh mama mia is it fun, best spec ever designed, brilliant, fast paced, and fun.

Just play another class if u wanna cast heal, but i recommend joining the fistweaving side. Slap on some haste gear and u will be hitting mega HPS in no time

You very much can! Ill post my hybrid/non feyline build below. Id suggest still picking up some of the Melee abilities and staying in melee range. Its very beneficial. CJL is kinda garbage and TP/Bok/RSK is fun to weave in even if you dont go full fey line just because of the mana returns it can provide and extra RenMists. Youll need to be in melee regardless of build to maximize the auras. interrupt and stun.

The melee part mostly consists of SOTC and RSK and the talent that gives an extra RenMist when you RSK. Rest is mistweaver heavy:

I have a different build for raids but Ive had no issues pushing 10-11’s with my m+ build. There will be some buffs tomorrow and in 10.0.5 that help with cleave healing ( Sheilun’s ) so it’ll only get better soon. At that point Ill be just swapping a few points around for the ton of extra cleave healing.

People who say you cant are usually trolling, parroting what someone else told them, or they have not tried any other builds/talent options other than what wowhead tells them to take. If you dont find feyline or the melee heavy options fun there are other options that will see you through the content you mentioned no issues if you learn the toolkit and it’s interactions. My hybrid build above will play almost exactly like MW did in Legion ( more so when 10.0.5 hits ) so if that interests you Id suggest giving it a shot!

At low keys, it won’t matter.
However, if you ever decide to do high end content, you’ll have to fistweave as well to optimize.

Arguably, you should stop thinking about a MW as mistweaving vs fistweaving. There are situations that call for both styles but collectively, it’s all part of one-toolkit. So it’s better to not pigeon-hole into one and limit yourself.

Play with your talents OP. Once you know the toolkit and the interactions between abilities you can tailor your talents to what works for you and the encounter(s), and eventually into something that is fun for you.

I like monk though. Being told to just play another class rubs me the wrong way, it comes off as so dismissive…that being said i’d like to make it clear i like both playstyles. Do hpals have the same issue? i believe they have a melee and a caster build atm too

Caster build is mostly a raid thing, as I understand it. In dungeons Hpal remains a melee healer.

i been thinking of trying it out mostly because i like the animations. not a huge fan of monks in any game but given the fact that casters which i mainly play don’t even use their weapons anyways makes no sense why i shouldn’t play a monk. it’s probably the only class outside of hero classes i haven’t played much of it at all. i used to have a monk but highest lvl was 40. it’s a change for me thus why i am considering it outside of that though idc much for what is meta or doing better i just try to enjoy the game at my own pace.

already expecting to suck at it so doesn’t bother me. i mean i can also play paladin in that sense but i’ve mained paladin before.
