Is LFR heading for the chopping block?

I don’t ignore it. I played EQ at launch up to Gates.

What you’re talking about is easily solved through:

1. Personal Loot
2. Scaling world encounters
3. Open tagging on mobs (no tag denied).

Those three things completely eliminate your concerns without going ham throwing everything into instances and introducing a whole new bunch of issues.

If you did, you still seemed to have forgotten them and brought up something I didn’t even mention.

Are World Bosses a concern at present? They aren’t. Why not? Because they are zerged down by the exact same system you’re speaking of.

The instances do put limits on the ability to zerg a target down, in which is part of the challenge. Some Raid bosses that are difficult right now would be easy because of that zerging aspect. If you’re in a raid right now and in a boss fight, you’re locked in from even releasing to go get your body back, which you can do in world boss encounters right now.

This would definitely take out the reason to have LFR or LFD, but that’s because any passing bloak could just ride the coat tails of Mythic or another strong guild to get Mythic gear just by tagging the boss and then backing outside of the mechancs’ range.

haha probably the last person who does anything in this game for epeen purposes lol. I see what you are saying however, I could see it being used for training, but give no rewards or maybe get rid of normal or something. Seems weird to have 4 versions of the same raids, at the very least move it down to 3. Then again it does not bother me specifically so the current system is fine as well. I’ve died so many times to dragons or that mender that noone in the party seems to want to kill and it ends in a wipe. That is in LFR so people definitely need training. I really wish normal was in a queue though, lol but I completely see why it is not.

The only problem I see with LFR using “Normal” content is two-fold.

1. People won’t seek to improve to get in to “Normal” groups. (In my case, it’s more about improving my socializing skills more than my playing skills, but it is one of my blocks. I don’t like being pushed in social situations, so I try not to be pushy myself.)

2. Some people would start asking why “Heroic” Raid isn’t on LFR since “Heroic” dungeons are as well.

I’m not a fan of not getting gear from LFR, as that is part of the impetus of doing raids in the first place, LFR just shouldn’t be as effective as the real challenge, but they just don’t have to give strong enough gear to be justified using it as a Mythic alternative.
