Actually the grind for ranks when you have to get 4x pages is worst. Specially at the start until you grind enough memntos and unlock the trait that gives you 200 sanity when killing an elite. After 15, you just have to do one full clear without any masks, which is kinda super easy and quick at that point. Plus a chance at getting some good corruption since it’s guaranteed and now it also gives you echoes for corruption tokens.

I’ve seen so many people /flex saying visions are easy with their ilvl 370+ gear on. And especially DHs. (Of course they are…)
That brings up the entire point of OP, is it worth that much trouble?
This right here. I finally decided to level mine past 5 this week on both characters, then I hit 8 and saw 4 pages needed. By the time I farm keys for both shadowlands will be here.
It’s two pages now, meaning each rank can be done in one run. And it is doable by some classes. By some classes I mean mdps simpletons, everything is tailored around them.
On things that never happened
I got it on my major alts because just doing that questline gives you a quick boost to ilvl and allows for 445 emissaries faster.
Originally a 477 ilvl feral druid with rank 15 cloak that replaced his items with greys but kept the cloak. Also highly likely he has all Titanic Research unlocked.
Visions is all about mechanics + sanity (cloak + research) + pots.
An ilvl 307 with rank 1 cloak and no research unlocked is not going to be able to do this.

If you have corruptoforged gear, the cloak is nigh essential.
If you don’t, the cloak is a massive ilvl upgrade.
Imagine asking for a video like a “pics or it didn’t happen” and the guy has a youtube video.

Hmmm I literally stopped playing bgs with a guy who opted out of doing cloak.
Mostly cause he was regularly being one shot.
To be fair, I doubt someone at 477 ilvl could do a 5 mask with a rank 1 cloak and no research unlocked. The passive sanity drain alone would take them out.

Ah yes, the forums. Where someone does challenging content in an ilevel that’s worthy of a fresh max level, but people still want to find a way to nitpick why it’s not that impressive.
I always find it amusing to watch the forums lose their collective doodoo whenever they see someone do something everyone tries to argue was all about skill or is too challenging or is impossible without XYZ or whatever. Reminds me of when I nuked Kanrethad down in 30 seconds while listening to people trying to argue he was all about skill and couldn’t be overcome with gear.

Better cloak = more corruption resistance.
More corruption resistance = more corruption gear you can wear.
More corruption gear you can wear = massive dps increase.
Therefore, better cloak = massive dps increase.
In an indirect way, the cloak is your most important gear slot.

You got me. I don’t know what I’ll ever do now. 
To clarify, Torment in a jar is capable of doing more damage than a fresh max level toon is going to do. A massive main stat proc in the cloak. A health pool that people at 430 ilvl don’t have. I’m also pretty sure he had the hivemind echoing void weapon. I can nitpick I just don’t care to. I’ll concede to you though.

I play disc and holy, so i probably have better sustain/survivability than most of all classes and specs.
Around 400ilvl i was able to defend myself to discourage most dps from focusing me.
A lot of it is simple positioning, stay in the back.

but like everyone else, really helps with corruptions but if you don’t mind then it doesn’t matter
