If you want to find a group fast, yeah you should play healer. If you don’t mind waiting, queue up as dps and wait like the rest of the mage and rogue mains
Leveling and even doing WQ as a holy priest until you get pretty geared is God awful
Not at all. Do whatever you want.
But, the classes arent deep or robust enough in modern wow where a single spec could hold my interest for a class. For the sake of wanting to fully understand the class I choose to play at a given time, I make sure I learn all aspects of it. But that’s what alts are for I guess. If one ONLY plays a single class AND only a single spec of that class, then that would be a miserable and shallow experience for me.
I mean, as long as you aren’t queing in LF dungeon as healer and then refusing to play a spec that can heal.
Cause that would be kind of messed up.
The context is pretty important. Like if you joined a guild, or group and gave a false impression that you would play holy, or whatever, but then never did.
Other than that, what can somebody say? “you never heal me, you big jerkface shadowpriest”.
i was salty. i joined a mythic pug. saved my lockout. we wipe a few times on the 3rd boss. Raid leader asks me to heal after the disc leaves. i say i dont know shadow. he kicks.
No. You pay to play this game. Play whatever you want.
ETA: Also sorry to hear about the pug raid. But I wouldn’t l look too much into it. After all it’s pug group.
Of course not! Play what you find fun. Nobody yells at boomkins for not tanking.
I never touched disc or holy on this character and I’ve only spriest every priest I’ve rolled since BC. I believe I tried disc once. Play your way no one else pays your sub but you.
Nope, not at all
My priest has never been a healer. I tried it for a couple Bgs and noped the heck out of healing. Didn’t even get my holy artifact until after legion
I’d rather melt minds of idiot dps than save them when they stand in fire
Is it wrong when tanks only tank? Healers only heal? Of course not.
Now can that be limiting if your DPS spec gets rammed up the… I mean hit with the balance stick? Yeah maybe. But you do what you want, just don’t get mad if players who play their whole class can get a leg up on you. Not wrong to do what you like, not wrong for others to not like/like what you like.
If you are comfortable with the default raid frames, just Google mouseover macros and make them for every spell that you use on friendlies. Some add-ons do that work for you but with mouseovers, it doesn’t really matter what frames you are using much.
I remember getting screamed at in stockades back in classic because i didnt know what i was doing and was still a noob priest…
That was the highest my anxiety got i think.
It’s never wrong to do your thing so long as you’re not causing harm to others. I come across DKs, Paladins, and Warriors who never tank. Come across shamans and monks who never heal. I come across hunters who never DPS.
lmao
Yeah I feel ya, but I don’t think all that stuff is really required. I mean as long as you can see players health and debuffs and stuff I think you’re mostly fine. I look at addons and macros and all that as quality of life stuff, but wouldn’t worry to much about if when you start healing, maybe just add it in as you go. I would say if you’re playing Resto Druid that is probably the only healer where a raid frame addon is really important as the default ones won’t show all your hots all the time, and Disc Priest (and maybe Holy Paladin to a lesser extent) is the only healer where mouseover macros are probably required. Outside of that just use what you want, and like I said just add more over time as you get more used to everything.
