Then just do nothing and wait for wrath remix in 2032. Hell why even be subbed? Why dont you wait until two expansions dowm the lime to collect tww stuff? How about 4 expansioms dowm the line so you can collect the two after the last titan? How about 6 or 8 expansions?
Your thought is flawed. If you believe you shouosnt so something now because there might be a meme mode that will goft you the reward go for it. Quit now and come back in 2032
…and even if something has been in the game for 20 years, and obtainable for 12 copper just by visiting a vendor, you can bet the “FOMO” crowd are standing by to grab their pitchforks
You are actually doing it for the journey, not the result, even if you don’t realize it now.
If somehow 1 isn’t true, if you do get whatever you want earlier, you will have access to whatever you want that much sooner.
Limited time events might not return their rewards, ever (see some Trading Post items, PvP mounts/gear, CM rewards, the very MoP/Legion Remix exclusive stuff etc.)
You are farming them now to be able to have them now. If you really feel like you want to wait several years for a possible “remix” of the current xpac to come out, then by all means. But you will more than likely have everything youve wanted to collect by then.
My relationship with collecting is in a complex spot right now and with or without these events, my approach has been under review and re-review for a while now.
These collecting themed events have tweaked my priorities a little, but I can safely say they have had no downside for me.
I have no idea why people think Wrath would be a Remix. There seems to be two reasons to do a Remix:
1.) Godmode, which ok any xpac can be put into godmode
2.) Collections. What in Wrath was hard to collect..? Plus, all the mount and armor models from Wrath are freaking old so any recolors they would do would be old. I don’t see why they would bother.
I think the biggest contenders for the next Remix would be:
WoD - To Redeem that expansion.
BfA - Lots of horrid grinds.
SL - The most horrid grinds
But as for collecting? There’s no guarantee they will do another xpac at all. They said in an interview last year that MoP will probably come back around so the next Remix might be MoP again and they might throw in some a few new rewards to get the people that did it last time to come back.
And like you pointed out, it’s not that hard and I like I pointed out, I’m not sure that stuff is worth recoloring since it’s so damn old. By the time they Remix it, it’ll be 20.
Edit: I wanted to clarify that difficulty isn’t the angle I was going with so I shouldn’t have said “ that hard.” I should have said “tedious.” The AT is only tedious grind in Wrath. SL had many AT-type grinds.
I’ve always viewed collecting as something I do for myself. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the increased rate during the event, but I would have gone out to collect anyway. It’s worth it if it’s something you want to do and will enjoy doing.
Sometimes you have to collect something so that you can collect something else so that you can complete an activity that grants an item. Sun Darter Hatchling is a fun one. Great time sink
This is what happens when people feel entitled to handouts and think that negating peoples time spent is actually okay(the only time its okay is if the item is exclusive, not the other way around).
I find the extensive list of mounts available in Remix to be excessive. I get that people like it and I will certainly be buying what is available but… in the back of my mind I do have mixed feelings regarding acquisition. Just feels lazy to collect currency and click click buy everything. The first mount I really worked for was the Cenarion Hippogryph and well, it’s important to me and had like… substance? Meaningful interaction with the lore? Idk. I just don’t want everything to feel soulless I guess. I feel like I’m shopping instead of playing sometimes.
meanwhile, i had to watch people complaining about getting their 4th or 5th mount
on the upside, I’ve made a small fortune selling all of my excess pets over the years as they’ve become more scarce.
they’re one of the few pets which actually sell.
says the person who devoted too much time trying to obtain it, while everyone else already had theirs.
With the bear, I just gave up on it with my mage.
Took my paladin through the quests because I wanted to get the “hidden” frost axes to farm AQ… and got the stupid bear first time through the quests.
…also got the proto on the paladin.
and Invincible.
and Ashes. (yes, i know, wrong expansion, just throwing that in there to prove my point)
99% sure my mage is cursed.
Then that doesn’t count because again, you can level up your rep in 5 minutes during Wrath TW on all your characters and buy eggs on all your characters.
This is just like your Sons of Hodir and white polar bear example. Not sure why you’re using them as a point. With so much becoming account wide, I’m not sure why you’re using Wrath standards.
I have scaled back my collecting A LOT, I actually felt this way just a bit before the collector event actually.
it isn’t worth the stress for me anymore, I used to make sure I tried for every raid mount weekly, and every open world mount daily if I could for example rustfesther in Mechagon I would try on 5-10 alts a day.
But when you think there’s other things to do either real life or just other games… plus it’s basically just a +1 as I don’t use them.
if I see a transmog I absolutely like then I wold try hard for it again but that hasn’t been the case
