As opposed to the other apples which come from the Sharkhead Nebula.
My point being it doesnt evoke the same meaning as “dirt” as in its disgusting/dirty and just evokes the more neutral meaning of it comes from the earth.
If that is what the french wanted they would call it pomme de saleté or boue or something else not terre.
I mean the quintessential russet potato, which is what I picture when potatoes are on the mind, is both the color of dirt and probably roughly the same flavor if eaten raw.
Unless I’m a dying 19th century Irishman I can’t exactly picture chowing down on one raw with any enthusiasm.
So you’ve the delicious fruit the apple. Which is so stellar on it’s own it’s the cause of humanity being cast out’ve paradise and why women have to endure childbirth. And the other you’ve it’s cousin the root vegetable dirt apple. Which has to be boiled, mashed or put in a stew before any civilized person enjoys it.
My neighbor ate raw potatoes with salt.
It was weird.
But I’ll eat a baked potato – skin and all – if it’s got any modicum of butter or cheese.
Lord god bless baked potatoes.
Because Blizzard named both Draenor and Draenei before they decided to make them originally eredar and it was too late to change what the orcs called the planet so they just rolled with it.
It’s just weird that no one ever calls the Draenei on it in the story.
I like to bake the bastards to a crisp then basically make mini bowls of mashed potatoes within the halves.
Then you get to eat the salted, sour creamed and thoroughly buttered skins that if done right will still have a pleasing crunch to every bite.
God damn I forgot how badass this cinematic was. Pure orcish material right there.
Precisely why they’d communicate in the same language. Jesus christ man you contradict yourself just to spite Dread and Kare. This is beyond pathetic, it’s pathological.
Skissue on the part of everyone else for not knocking off the ogre empire, but I think the arakkoa would have had the next best chance to do that behind Draenei.
They did, just not in language of the ogres. Why talk to your slaves in your language when you can keep it unintelligable to them so you can freely speak and they would be none the wiser?
What is there to call them out about it? They told people the name the call for the world, the orcs, not having one themselves adopted it. There isnt some conspiracy going on regarding it.
I mean, sure, they could do that. Bring some evidence they did.
Why dont you bring me evidence that the orcs knew the ogre word for world?
Because I can bring you evidence the orcs just didnt have a word for it. Neither their own or anyone else’s word until Durotan learned it from the draenei.
iirc it all eredar society held to it, but thal’kiel and archimonde were among the loudest proponents
i invite you to do this because i don’t think you understand how evidence works.
You have yet to come up with an argument to dissuade this.
Durotan nodded. He had heard the term before. He liked how it sat on his tongue when he spoke it, and the orcs did not have a name for this place other than “world”.
It is our term, we have not the arrogance to think the orcs would use it as well. But such we have dubbed it, and we love Draenor deeply. It is a beautiful world, and we have seen many.-Velen, Rise of the Horde
So there, no proper word for the world, but clearly they just used the term “world”. Bonus it disuades this whole conspiracy theory/attempt to make it some colonizer nonsense.
So yeah, Draenor sounded nice, the orcs went with it.
Rise of the Horde is retconned by newer content.
Find me newer content the Orcs had their own world for Draenor/they use the Ogre word for it.
It is only a retcon if something actually contradicts what was previously mentioned.
Chronicles 2, of all things, mention the Draenei saving Doomhammer and Durotan. So yeah, this particular encounter remains canon.
I already found you newer content where the orcs were the descendants of ogres and were members of their empire until they rebelled.
Which doesnt mention that they(the orcs) used the ogre term for world. (and as mentioned they just called it world)
As a side note, while Chornicles does mention the ogres called it Dawgar, it doesnt say WHEN it started using the term. So for all we know term only started being used long after the orcs were a free people.
