Is it possible to seperate PvP and PvE gear?

Is it even possible? Is it possible to bring back resilience to pvp gear? Maybe by making pvp gear a much lower item level than PvE gear? Maybe add resilience back to pvp gear so that the PvE player thats naturally 50+ ilvls higher wont make a scratch on the lower ilvl PvP player while on the flip side the PvPer wont be able to just jump in and compete with the PvEr in raids/dungeons while in just PvP gear. Idk just a suggestion.

They did it in WoD. Not sure why they abandoned that system.

PvE players felt compelled/obligated to PvP because it was the easiest route for gear for some pieces.

The issue first came up in wrath when players complained the 1800 PvP weapon was the easiest to obtain weapon for some classes. What would take a player weeks or months to obtain from raid could be earned with only 2 weeks worth of conquest.

Possible, sure, but I think it would do more to hurt PvP then even the current design. Resil had it’s own list of issues to begin with. As it only affected damage against and only crit, it really affected specs differently. For a spec that relies on crit for their overall damage, resil was terrible.

Ideally, gear from PvP should still be functional and viable for PvE content. The issue right now is that obtaining gear from PvP is at its worst. That is the issue that needs to be addressed. I mean, I honestly enjoy pvp and pve content and I really don’t want to work for two sets of gear again.

What really needs to happen is we need vendors again for basic gearing. To that, they should still have RNG gear dropping from matches and the weekly chest. The worst gear would be the random dropped gear, while vendor gear could be in the middle, and the best gear could be reserved for the chest based off your current rating.

In the ideal world, there would be a single currency provided from both M+, Arena/RBGs, and even raids. I still think raiding should be the best outlet for the best gear, but that should only be relative to time. At the end of each week, you would still have your chest to open, but you only got gear from one. So if ‘capped’ for M+ or arena, you only got one piece of gear, not two as it is now.

Honestly, this could be a simple thing to fix, but I really think that blizzard just doesn’t gear about PvP any longer. Thats been evident this entire expansion relative to how terrible it is to get gear through PvP. :frowning:

But now PvE players can just spam Mythic + and get just as geared very quickly.

pve players cry too much thats why!

I don’t see pve players crying about pvp gear. Kinda the opposite :face_with_monocle:

The reason they can’t lock gear to be exclusive for pvp is that it would only work for bgs and arena

There is no way to separate pve/pvp in the open world.

They also did it in TBC, Wrath, Cataclysm, and MoP.

Difference is random vs targeted.

Yeah I can spam mythics for weeks and not see the weapon I need.

But pvp vendors have it right there.

That being said. There should be pvp vendors similar to how Addr explained.

I wonder if they could just add PvP sockets. Where you still gear up like now but you can be PvP ready after all your gear has pvp resilience added. That way they can keep the current gearing system but still give pvpers progression to their gear.

I don’t accept that system. The Conquest weapon would take 2-3 weeks to farm if they were working off the base Conquest cap each week for 2 Hands. They should just do what they did in WoD. With each progression system (Raid, PvP, M+) having their own lane in terms of gearing with main pieces while off pieces can move over to different types of content.

You have to be really new to the game to make either of those statements.

PvE players have historically complained about the ease of access of PvP gear and feeling compelled to cap honor / conquest. It BFA is the opposite because Blizzard removed PvP vendors, and made PvP gearing extremely random and slow; much more random and slow than any PvE route.

And yes, they can lock gear to be exclusive with Resilience like they did for nearly 10 years.

However, back to the OP. Resilience had issues, it was unbalanced for some specs. And, it’s also quite annoying to have to carry two sets of gear, one for PvP, and another for PvE. And even more sets of gear if you play more than one spec.

It’s good that gear is being unified. What is bad is that PvP is not very rewarding. It’s pretty much impossible to gear up through BG’s, and that has killed participation. M+ is easier, gives better gear, gives varied pets and mounts (not just reskins of the same horse), and it takes 1/4 of the time.

90% of my gametime in Cata and MoP was just logging in and doing 3-5 BG every single day, and sometimes arenas on the weekends. But in Legion I did almost no PvP (I was farming for artifact appearances, and most of those were in PvE content), and now in BFA I’ve done literally no PvP (only the recent AV event and that was up until I got the mount, then I dropped it, because ironically to get the mount you have to do PvE stuff and ignore fighting).

Blizzard has killed WoW PvP.

I’ve been playing since 2006, so no. However, I avoided pvp since the end of wrath as imo the community leaves a lot to be desired.
