Just looking at the numbers for prayer of mending and its healing for about an 8th of a single flash heal for over half flash heals mana cost. It gets 4 stacks but thats just around half the heal for over half the mana cost of our most basic heal…
and flash heal is supposed to be our inefficient heal?
Seems REALLY bad to me, inefficient, uncontrollable, unreliable.
Am i supposed to use this spell or just ignore it?
Renew is similar with over half a flash heals mana cost and under half its healing for a very slow heal over time.
Seems to me i should just spam flash heal as a holy priest and nothing else, neither of them even work with serendipity?

Pom is a holy only spell really.
When a spell gets a lot of modifier talents, It becomes useless without them. That’s what holy does, has a ton of talents and tier sets to make it work. So for holy, it’s your main heal. Outside of this spec, it’s a baked potato.

Geez. It really doesnt have to be amazing but being at least better than our default heal considering its on a CD and has strict activation requirements and spread out heal.
It did kind of click though looking through the tree and realizing how many talents you can pick to make it useful. Renew is the same, it has a talent that increases its power by 150% but gives it a CD, that makes it worth pressing. It really should be that baseline or else its just honestly a wasted keybind.

It’s gone in midnight minus being applied via other abilities through talents so you won’t have to think about it for long.
Pom is unbelievably strong and should be pressed as top priority off its cd. Empowered renew is not strong and should be pressed as low priority off its cd.

It’s an extremely powerful spell. With talents you get 7 stacks per cast. The current tier set also causes it to do an immense about of healing on its initial cast. But the real power of the spell is that it doesn’t heal until AFTER the player takes damage, resulting in very efficient healing. This spell is more useful in a raid environment than a dungeon environment.
What’s comical is that Prayer of Mending heals for like 30k+ a tick on MoP with health pools of 300k and now it heals for like a measly 2.7k per tick with full gear on the beta lmao. I mean i guess the quality of life changes like allowing it to be on multiple people and stuff makes up for it but idk, kinda miss it actually hitting hard
PoM is going to be one of ur top heals in raid, especially when there’s raid wide AoE going out.
Especially during S2 with goblin raid, that was the top heal on most charts.
Dungeons u won’t notice it as much but u should still be using it on cooldown because of synergies with other talents.
The only time u shouldn’t be casting it is if ur playing disc and accidentally wasted a talent point on it.
Pom is crazy strong always use it on cooldown.
PoM is by far the best heal and most efficient of holy’s toolkit. Where it fails is dependent on the type of content you’re doing.
I find in dungeons it’s not that great unless everyone is taking damage consistently. It’s also sometimes weak in arena if people are focussing one target and not doing a ton of AoE damage / DoTs.
It’s more useful in raids as everyone does tend to take damage on boss fights fairly regularly. It’s also extremely useful in BGs as there tends to be a lot of AoE damage going out on the regular.
I PvP a lot on my holy priest and PoM is either top healing or second after Echo of Light (Mastery). It’s healing is by far the most mana efficient for pure output and the smart healing makes it efficient for removing wasted overheating.
I was in a blitz last night in a big fight vs a boomkin and PoM just did so much work it was amazing.
