Is it impolite to say "you're welcome"?

Statement: You know what is kinda funny? I’ve been playing with the same players for the last 40 levels or so. I never expected to see any of them again but low and behold I get them again.

Or it was a simple response to someone saying “Thank you”???

I feel like I am taking crazy pills here. This is not that deep of an issue.

Haha, I meant in the specific scenario where there’s no thank you to respond to and usually they phrase it like, “you’re welcome for the carry through this heroic dungeon scrubbbssss” lol.

Right? …

That I can get behind. That being said, I figure douches like that tend to have a bad enough day on their own. I usually forget about them within the time it takes to leave group.

Sometimes it happens. My statement wasn’t meant to be 100% factual but rather hyperbole.

But at the end of the day, do you expect to spend significant time with any of those people? Do you expect to raid, or PvP or push M+ keys with them in the future?

I’m guessing probably not. PuG’s aren’t your friend. They’re the WoW equivalent of sharing public transport together.

Trying to decipher meaning from the statements you get from PuG’s is pointless. That goes doubly so, when they’re as minor as saying “you’re welcome” in response to “thanks for the group”.

There isn’t any reason to look deep into it. It’s like when someone says “GG”. Just assume the best from it and don’t think about it, because 9 times out of 10, they weren’t trying to be rude, and the 1 time out of 10 they are? There’s no point giving them the satisfaction of being upset at their rudeness.

Hey, sometimes you carry the group so hard that a sarcastic “you’re welcome” is merited.

The overwhelming majority of the time, though, the appropriate response is to thank them in return.

Thank you for this thread.

I don’t mind carrying you, you’re welcome.

You know, why don’t our toons have built in voice commands like, “thank you, run, bad guy here, etc” like it was in D2.

Don’t worry OP, next time I will let you know that I did not do it for your benefit and I do now want or need your thanks!

That is an interesting way to put it lol, I think I now understand why I like LFD anymore.

you’re welcome

(man, I’m so rude)

Proper manners tells you to always say yw when someone thanks you. I don’t think people mean it in the way you are taking it imo. I usually just say ty and leave group,so never noticed if anyone ever said yw.

…I mean if he invited you to his key, that seems proper enough.

The fact that you’re upset about this is incedebly petty and you’re trying to throw a pity party right now. Just say gg and leave, why is the simplest things so hard for some people?

When it’s a mutual exchange to the benefit of both parties it’s a breach of etiquette.
