See, the fact that you had to spell out one of the choices as “jif” should really end the whole argument right there.
There actually is, it should be a hard “G.” The examples of a soft “G” you gave are all borrowed French words (mutated over the years, of course), which is why they follow different rules.

Why we hating on the creator? He wanted it to sound like peanut butter and the English language allows for it to sound that way.

I wouldn’t debate this either, that’s stupid. I would find whoever invented it and ask them how they pronounce it and that’d be the correct way.
it is gif in Canada too - are you from Quebec? if so that doesn’t count, they consider themselves a separate ‘nation’.
That’s not how words work. They adapt to common usage all the time.
It’s kinda stupid though, because there isn’t a soft G in ‘graphic’.
You don’t say JPG like “jay-feg” because the P is a Ph, so that doesn’t mean much. However every word with a g, then an f, then a g is pronounced with a hard g. Like gaffe, gift, guff, guffaw.
Almost all words in english are borrowed, since english borrows from Latin, Greek German and other languages.
To say one is more correct is to say that english only correctly borrows from one language. It doesn’t.
And besides, those french words are now English words.
And also, there is no grammatical rule regarding the pronunciation of acronyms, since they are not words.

I don’t think gif is spoken enough to fall prey to any adaptions though lol. But I only have that stance because I don’t say the word that much nor am I around people that say it either.
Generally speaking, actually, acronyms do follow grammatical rules like any other word. That’s how grammar works.
That’s because j goes “jh”, ee goes “eeh” and p goes “p” so when we put it together we get “jeep”.
