As a bear yes I do swap quite often depending on key level, what dungeon, if I pug, what affixes we have for the week and if I know healers will need help on heal checks. Raid fights similarly get their own builds as they have long single target fights that prioritize different talents where things like raze are simply wasted but things like pulverize add a ton more mitigation and dps.
Its honestly not exhausting its just part of understanding your class and wanting to do well.
I tend to have 2 base builds and than a couple of individual talents that switch week to week in M+ like picking up remove curse for afflicted, hibernate for incorp, going dream of Cen and Protector of the pack (I should probably be running this at all times but I donât care for it much and I expect it to be nerfed hard so I donât want to get used to it,) typhoon for spiteful and sanguine,
Moo!
I am probably an outlier. I will pick a talent configuration and never switch. even when I did mythic+ and raid

kinda exaggerated post. you just have ST and AoE for mythic+ and or world content . you change on the fly with a push of a button
I have one for raid(lfr lol) and one for M+.
Iâve considered making a build for farming old content. Idk if pallie can get that much out of the effort but other classes certainly can.
I pretty much only quest so usually build for single targets and will multi dot as needed, but on the rare occasions where suddenly there are tons of mobs, i switch to an AOE build.
I swap talents for trash⊠let alone bosses.
I have 10 builds on 8 toons⊠I thought this was a normal thing
For unholy i have, Pure single Target aka most raid bosses this tier, hybrid single which is assault only, basic m+ build which i use for trash clearing in raids and easy m+, m+ defensive for Will of the Necropolis, M+ defensive tyrannical where i swap talents for more single target. the cap of 10 loadouts across all specs sucks big time.
Depends on the spec.
In DF prior to 10.1.5, Fire Mage had exactly one talent setup that it used for every situation. But now, many specs (Mages included) have various talent setups for various situations.
For instance: as a baseline, Shadow wants three different talent setups. Thereâs a pure ST setup with Voidtouched and Mental Decay, an ST-focused setup with solid cleave damage with Shadow Crash and Whispering Shadows instead of Voidtouched and Mental Decay (which you use on Echo of Neltharion and Sarkareth), and an AoE-centric setup where you drop Insidious Ire in favor of taking Idol of Nâzoth while keeping Idol of Yogg-Saron and Idol of Câthun, and within that build you can swap between Mindâs Eye for more single-target and Distorted Reality for multidotting Devouring Plague (for more cleave/AoE).
That said, there are some more niche setups that run Dark Ascension and drop Idol of Yogg-Saron in favor of Mindbender/Idol of Nâzoth and those builds are still competitive, arguably even moreso come tomorrowâs hotfixes. That spec is burstier and has a CD cycle of ~1 minute instead of ~2 minutes, which is nice on fights like Magmorax that tend to be 5-5:30 long.
Heck no. I find something that works and keep it that way. Ainât no way Iâm switching between AoE and single target. Etc. Thatâs just silly.
If youâre tryhard, yeah. Thereâs minor alterations for different situations. Personally I donât like switching all the time for minute differences. I will swap pvp talents here and there sometimes. Anything beyond that I make a build and if it isnât covered broadly by that change itâs just a change Iâm not going to make.
I switch a few talents for PvE. It all comes down to using Pyre or 6 essence/living flame talents or using a cleaving talent or slightly more living flame damage.
Considering I only swap for absolute pure ST, ST with cleave potential, or AoE, it isnât much of a problem.
Yes. Even just for M+ you have different talent setup for depending on the dungeon (is it a aoe fest dungeon or a cleave type dungeon), What week is it (is it tyr week or fort week). What affix is there (afflicted, incorporeal, sanguine, entangled)
This may sound small things but youâd be surprise how many people are not aware of things they can optimized to help w/ the run

Just on the healing side I have:
pvp aoe mist build
pvp st mist build
pvp fist build
mythic + fist build
mythic + mist build (because itâs fun)
raid build (donât really raid but if I did I still have a build ready for it)
experimental build
thank god for loadouts
the most I really do is switch around my utility like cleansing diseases for brackenhide. Iâve used pretty much what icyveins tells me for m+ and itâs worked well!
It does make a difference. But I donât do plus twenty, so it never made enough difference
thatâs fair but I do think atleast for a minimum look into afflicted and incorporeal. Alot of prefer builds donât include ccâs and dispels.

If you are a tank without an interrupt you are doing it wrong (even raid)
But there are âcrazyâ people out there who change every boss fight

I main a pally this season. There are some dungeons that I dont spec interrupt if I know itâs not a heavy int dungeon and AS is enough to get the interrupt needed (obviously I wont be doing this in pugs, rule no1 in pugging dont trust anyone but yourself)
