The devs have long admitted that they built encounters and classes/specs fully aware and even counting on addons existing and bridging the gap. What is this nonsense trying to act like the devs are just blissfully unaware how reliant the tryhards are in their crutches?
The game is going to consoles in the very near future. Consoles don’t have the abilities like PCs do to have addons thus the game needs to be as competitively viable to work for a console player as it does a PC player lest you have an entire subset of the player base massively disadvantaged.
Blizzard lied. They promised that Hekili would continue to work, and their in game rotation helper is not as good. I hate the game play look of combat in WoW but love raids and keys. I will not be subscribing to WoW in the future without this addon. Ion you lied.
Sounds unnecessary? Is this for people still learning their class?
Hekili can certainly be used to help and it has helped me a bit with unfamiliar classes/specs. It’s a shame it’s going away, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
The only option many players will have now is using the built in rotation assist that Blizzard added to the game in this expansion, but the problem with that is you have to constantly be looking at your bars to see which button highlights blue, where as with an addon like Hekili, you can position the UI anywhere you want. I had mine set so that it was always visible in an easy to refer to location, no need to constantly look down at my bars.
Granted, I could put my bars in the middle of my screen, but that’s heresy.
When I came back from burning crusade to bfa, I really sucked at rotation. I would get random DMs from people in cities inspecting me saying get good look at your grey parses. I didn’t even know what a parse was. So eventually I learned about hekili and have used it ever since so I can play end game content and not get kicked from m plus, pug heroic and pug mythic raids ever since.
I am a little nervous about losing hekili as it’s allowed me to play the game since bfa without getting heckled

“I’ve removed this bridge because I filled in the ridge. You can just walk over it now.”
“But I need that bridge. I’ve used it for years”
“Yeah, but you won’t need it anymore”
“Please, bring back my bridge”

Although I have some classes I don’t use a rotation helper on, it’s been really good for when I do want to turn my brain off. Pity we’re losing it because it seems to be better than the Bliz one.

Exactly, I have been maining a lock since 2014, so no issues there.
Some alts are ok, but for some it is really really nice to see what to do.
Oh well, nothing good can last forever.

It was really good for getting back into rogue when it got harder to play. If they don’t simplify some specs enough I won’t play those alts, though.
You’re all welcome to come play healers and tanks though if you’re quitting dps!
Even brew is pretty easy to play with all the head trauma you’ll be receiving
People won’t quit because there’s no addons. People will quit because you won’t need them. This pruning has everyone down to 2-3 buttons with some utility sprinkled in. It’s quite literally wrath level rotations. It’s boring.
everyone uses weak auras and addons for top content… because IT WAS DESIGNED WITH THOSE TOOLS IN MIND. I think the casuals here dont understand that blizzard was making content for top end players based on the fact that they had these tools.
The reason they are simplifying along with this change is because they cant design encounters around addons that no longer exist. Again Blizz themselves said they were designing content around the idea and fact that players had addons to do it.
Guess what the RWF players are still going to be RWF players without addons. The players that get CE every season are still going to be CE players, the players that still get aotc every season will still be aotc players. THe players that get 3k io will still be better than you the skill floor isn’t magically going to move because they fundamentally are better. You fail to realize they are making this change because the game is TOO HARD. Not too easy. They talked about this in depth about the mental load to track weak auras and do complex rotations while doing mechanics. If anything the training wheels are going on not the other way around lol. Thats the whole point of what they are doing by their own admission.
Yes, it is a combat addon. No need to make a post about every addon out there, if it has to deal with any sort of COMBAT, it is removed. This goes for Elvui, Dominos / Bartender, variations of Perl, Vuhdo / Cell, any rotation assist, Weakauras, etc. If it looks at combat in any sort of way, the API now blocks it from working.

I suppose my question is, if the classes are simplified then will people really need hekili to perform just as well?
Because they are simplifying classes.
There’s definitely a threshold going down the list where people have become not good at the game, but good at reacting to their UI. These people are going to suffer the most.

Im going to look into what the devs allow with the api, theres speak of not seeig in the box but being able to skin the box, this means meaningful spells can be manipulated from the cool down manager, hekili likely not but having a rotation guide showing whats available to skin is possible, and Im sure im not the only addon dev that will tackle this. I wouldnt worry to much about not having a rotation icon flash with the ability to read and display keybinds for the spell, itll be a race to get something good working asap Im sure theres devs in alpha already working on something like this. dont panic
It’s fun to just push a button with zero thought that some addon tells you to push?
why do you care about how I enjoy the game?
why?
