Is faction loyalty true anymore?

From my time spend trying to do wPvP at the beginning of BfA the problem is that it always felt lop sided. Either it was me running around with a group of 15+ Alliance rolling random Horde, or you ended up getting rolled by a group of 15+ Horde.

As time went on, there was so few Alliance that it was almost always just getting rolled by groups of Horde so I turned it off.

Yea. From my horde side it started off great. Like STVietnam. Then it was like ally all unflagged except stragglers who were mercilessly slaughtered.
Then when allies got free raid gear they were everywhere again. Until their quest was done. Lol

Bold words for a scrub whose aboutta get clapped over and over again at Tarren Mill.

It’s because Ion admitted that their sharding system was broke at like the beginning of the xpac which made things imbalanced in the long-run, which is why trash like Overwhelming Odds exists because Blizzard can’t be bothered to actually implement good long-term solutions to faction balance.

Imagine actually developing a good expansion.

Just to touch on the in game communication that can’t happen cross faction because all the races speak different languages:
In War of The Ancients Brox was able to communicate with elves. 10,000 years before they knew what am orc was. Lol.

Thrall was raised by humans and taught to speak common. Where did he learn Orchish? Or am I not remembering something from that story?

Even in the Lore. There is no language barrier.

How do you do this? This still is at the mercy of player choice. Racial buffs? Whelp you just got a bunch of faction transfers (made some cash) but now it’s imbalanced the other way.

Faction locks? Well i don’t want to play the side you’re trying to force me to play. Again. Player choice. You can try enticing it but too much and it tips the balance the other way.

yes

mmmmm nice Nirvana fallacy right there.

“It’s not perfect balance so that means we shouldn’t try to produce racials which are clearly better for most situations.”

Blizzard can make racials appealing for both sides, they clearly have the capability to swing people to the other side with races like Blood Elves and very good racial abilities like Arcane Torrent or EMFH in its heyday.

Part of the problem is systemic.

Vanilla
Horde: Orgrimmar, Undercity, Thunderbluff.
Alliance: Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus.
Both: Booty Bay, Gadgetzan, Everlook.

Burning Crusade
Horde:
Alliance:
Both: Shattrath (as a sanctuary).

Wrath of the Lich King
Horde:
Alliance:
Both: Dalaran (as a sanctuary).

And so on. The game naturally forced you to be carebear by inexplicably creating sanctuaries and herding players together.

T-Rex doesn’t want to be fed, he wants to hunt.

On a PVP server this will once again not be possible, so the faction loyalty will return.

On PVE and RP it never really was ironclad.

Some people are definitely all for their faction. I think once it actually launches and people are on PvP servers where they can only be one faction, that loyalty and pride will return.

Faction hasn’t mattered really since the end of WC2.

As much as Blizzard likes to try to push it (and the way they denigrate Alliance players at Blizzcon), it really isn’t going to matter much going forward either.

The faction war is old and tired, it needs to be retired.

For retail I would agree, but this is Classic. The animosity is still very alive and well, from a lore perspective.

Oh yea. This is the perfect example. Buff EMFH. Oh look most of the serious pvpers went alliance. Look at arena rankings from then.

I didn’t say anything about perfectly balanced. EMFH imbalanced arena rankings, wpvp, and server pops. Which trickled down into less of a pool of players on horde side to find groups with.
So good job tipping those scales. Can we try something that gets a lil closer to the middle?

Except that there was no real “conflict” outside of the hot points of AB/WSG/AV. Beyond that, it was mostly a cold-war after playing all lovey-dovey in WC3 & TFT.

Well yeah, agreed tbh. EMFH was like crazy broken af, and when it was, there was some serious Alliance imbalance. The same thing is happening now. Not only is this entire expansion trash, Blizzard managed to trash my faction too because all of the serious PvErs went Horde because everybody followed along for the Arcane Torrent racial.

I’m just saying for Blizzard to actually make racials or serious changes to the game that’ll incentivize people to feel like they’re not losing out by picking a particular faction, and to not give some broken af racial to one side.

I have never leveled an alliance and idk when I will. Looks like one of the weakest and most basic group of people in all the land. Horde has so much more personality and imo…story.

Faction “Loyalty” will be more of a thing on PvP servers because in classic you cannot create both factions on a PvP server. Unless you want to delete your characters, or buy a 2nd account, you are set with your faction you first leveled as

Taking which color side you are on in a video game seriously is stupid.

Yes people still RP.

You reek of Horde dirt. You must love the ground in your mud hut.
