Is every Healer a Maschochist

Pls step on me

I know a few who like to be spanked.

Well if they are gnomes or goblin it is kind of hard not too.

I hate runs like that. They’re exhausting.

It’s my biggest turn-off from Mythic+

Curiously, I’m finding these super rush go-go-go tanks are often the worst experiences that often deplete the timer.

In contrast, It’s interesting to see how many chill groups that take their time to clear things actually beat the timer.

My main theory is that the go-go-go tanks even up having/causing more mistakes, while the chill groups make fewer mistakes, deal with mechanics well, so they actually end up doing much better.

There’s a reason why I typically never heal PvE more difficult than heroics and timewalking and practically never heal in PvP. Even though it sucks in its own ways tanks are a better “responsibility role” for more difficult things.

The advent of DPS healers only cements those feelings. Let me just focus on my primary role please, there’s enough going on with that alone.

Methodical pulls are the way to go. If the group can’t time a key that way, they should probably be running lower keys.

…Yeah, I am sort of.
I like to support other people…while still remaining control of the situation. I also have nerve of steel.

If healers suck the group fall apart fast…so I choose to play healers instead.

In Psychology, It’s called Alpha Empath I think…not really a leader like Tank but a support leader.

Agreed. It’s fun to be able to influence the outcome of encounters with different healer utility spells. Unfortunately healing usually just devolves into feeling like you’re an NPC that is just part of the game for the dps.

Well for the real masochists, miserable = fun.

Just re-reading your reply… it would appear you are.
Comprehension is difficult these days.

And thanks - I like my level 40 alt, he is awesome!

As a healer living the pug life it really isn’t that bad. Since the start of Shadowlands I’ve only been in 3 groups where ppl were rude or obnoxious. There have been a half dozen of so that fell apart but mostly it’s been fine. I’m sure others experiences will be different.

As to why I heal, it’s fun. Dps and tanking are not my cup of tea.

Just finished normal Castle Nathria as Resto with a pug group. Raid leader got us on discord and we smashed through in 3 hours.

Pug life isn’t all bad.

I mean. I am more into wax play. But stepping on can be ok in certain circumstances.

I like to think of myself as a sadist more when I’m healing and DPS doesn’t get out of the green stuff that drains away their green health bar. When they ask me why I didn’t heal them up as I was keeping the tank up I tell them their bars looked full with all the green around em…hic!

People watch MDI and think it’s the “right” way to play but they don’t realize how carefully the parties are timing and managing big pulls around abilities and CDs.

Yes! I keep telling people this but they don’t seem to get it! Exactly how i word it too

I used to love healing. Part of me still does but thinking back to previous experiences leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Puil already! Go Go!

In group content healing is the only role I feel like I might be playing somewhat correctly.

:goat:

I guess I just like my daily dose of abuse?

I just enjoy the fast que times and being wanted by literally everyone once you’ve proved yourself as a solid healer.
