Destro is quite easy to get the rotation down on, and in my opinion, one of the more enjoyable classes to play. Plus chaos bolt does insane damage.
Normally just keep your DoTs up at all times and the DD spells are “additional damage”, and you can pick them depending on the situation (Drain Life for lifesteal, Drain Soul for shards, etc.).
The mindset shift is that DoTs are not “additional damage” that you set and forget while you then turn to focus on your DD spells. DoTs are your main damage, and your focus is on keeping them up, and the DD spells are the additional damage spells. It’s a mindshift from how you think when you are used to being a DD class.
My rotation has been like this:
Haunt > Agony > UA > Corruption > Siphon Life > Malefic Rapture > Free Shadow bolts only from talent Nightfall
Affliction is amazing. TBH, I also really like new Shadow Priest too.
I put my lock on hold and am messing around with Spriest.
Alright thanks getting it down better. The only thing I notice is my blue berry pet gets low on life often. Is that spell that funnels my life to him the only pet heal?
I didn’t see anything else. Wasn’t sure if there was an insta pet heal I missed
Not easy in pvp as affliction (arenas) bgs arent super bad.
UA does not require a shard any longer and can only be applied once instead of multiple times to same mob.
Unless you’re specced into it in the talent* with then lets you hit 3
IMO Destro lock is not hard and is fun to play
That is a PvP-only Talent.
But Affliction is usually good, starts a little weaker but actually becomes incredibly powerful due to how they scale with secondary stats. Don’t think the squish broke that power at all, so will have to see. Apply DoTs to things, mash Malefic Rapture once when you are at 5 shards, or all the way to nothing when you have all your DoTs + Vile Taint/Phantom Singularity rolling.
Destro’s main mechanic is havoc management. I hate that ability with a passion. Aff dot management is infinitely easier.
Demo is by far the most fun to play, but the abilities don’t have a big enough differentiation in damage, the ramp is huge, felguard ai is terrible, and its got terrible overall performance vs. the other two specs.
Locks look good on paper but they get old really quick. I shelved mine until demo and destro actually get the love they need instead of the flippant spreadsheet balancing they have gotten since legion and aff is an actual rot spec again.
