That is a stupid policy. It only guarantees that those games never recover and perform better. They should be looking at why and what it would take to turn them around.
Itâs Activision forcing Blizzard to adopt itâs Profit driven model. There was a interview with Kottick a few years ago where he was very Frank in saying that if itâs not generating enough profit, they donât want to keep it around
There is a saying âThrowing good money after badâ. Eventually you have to realize that you are wasting money trying to turn a project around and have to move on.

Iâm not playing armchair moderator or on a high horse, Iâve rode a horse before and he was super aggressive so no thanks on that Iâm staying low to the ground.
They made Classic forums for a reason, to keep classic-related discussions in the part of the Classic forums. Itâs there for a reason but by all means, feel free to throw some more unnecessary remarks of my few words that you obviously feel the need to play the big boy around hereâŚ
Letâs all give him a round of applause⌠crowd goes wild
No evidence if that yet. Especially if they add group finder and other changes they were talking about. Remeber J. Allen Brack was pretty much against releasing classic to begin with
Because we all know sky is falling, lack of knowledge, panicky, tossing blame and making bad assumptions posts are so much better.
Keep Metzenâs words in mind, because this is why people are getting tired of these types of threads:
Flailing about the apocalypse doesnât help. Positivity and faith in the long run actually DO help. A community that doesnât support each other wonât last. Be positive for each other. Be constructive. Anger just breeds anger. I think Yoda said that onceâŚ
The primary reason for Classicâs existence is IP protection. Theyâve dedicated a specific, relatively small team to it for that purpose. Itâs not going to be cut.
Plus, if they were smart, they would use it as a litmus test to see where modern WoW lost some magic and feed that data back into their main development cycle.
Wow IS one of their biggest cash cows (In the Warcraft series anyway) and they made clear that it is a priority to them. This extends to itâs predecessor. Which is one of the most anticipated (and biggest) releases. Reality is, that activision NEEDS to get classic out. Most of all now. If not for the cash from subs that it will garner, then from the serious morale that it will give players (and devs).
Sometimes, you donât need another cash cow- sometimes you need something that will just net you a serious amount of positivity. Sure, activision might kick in a lot of teeth before then but what better way to smooth it all over, like nothing ever happened?
So I donât believe there is anything to worry about in regards to classic.
