Is Classic WoW becoming pay to play

go back to your sandbox and legos, kid.

Can somebody explain why I should care about this? Retail has tokens and this game is free with that commitment.

Is this to try and attract people who no longer play retail? If so, why would I care?

I think OP means Pay to Win? I don’t know. I’m confused. :upside_down_face:

A token would clearly work for both the retail and the Classic sub, as is now the case.

That sentiment isn’t entirely correct. Sure you can play the game for yourself but there comes appoint where you need the community’s help, blizzard made this game to be based on the community to progress. If you want to progress in end game the community can start gate keeping you if you don’t have the gear or the cons. GDKP raids and dungeon runs will most likely increase in popularity. Hell even pvp can start gatekeeping, I’ve heard people getting insta kicked because they didn’t follow directions.

I am sure a good percentage of people who will buy the token are already buying gold off gold sites.

Back in 2005 to 2006 I never saw a black lotus sell for over 50 gold. Currently on rattlegore they’re selling for around 130 gold.

I never saw flasks selling for the 225-250 gold they currently are.

1 stack of 5 major mana potions in vanilla would cost 4 to 5 gold. Currently on rattlegore a stack of 5 mana potions is 19 gold.

Tell me again what kind of inflation issues the token would bring that we haven’t already got. :joy: I’ll wait.

Pay to Play or Pay to Win?

Classic WOW has always been Pay to Play…

Poor baby, you really need shiny tokens? what a casual.

If Blizzard would start perma-banning people who buy gold it would go a long way to change things. zero tolerance for that stuff.

I know this raid logger who sold his Onslaught Griddle for 1k… I couldnt stop laughing since he got ripped off. Boy some people are just not bright. LOL

Or working out some discounts, for the Standard Game?

They do that, too. Work out some Discounts on certain purchases.

The difference is all about perspective. You’re looking at someone giving their goods to another saying it’s fine. Someone is still getting in their goods for no effort of their own. It’s no difference than getting gold from a token. You’re simply biased against the token. Let’s stop gatekeeping a 15 year old game.

Some people have the ability to play for 18 hours a day just farming gold and getting ahead. Some people only have time to raid. Would you say that the person playing 10 times more than the other person is essentially paying to win with their time spent? No? Why not? If I get paid $15 per hour at my job and I pay $15 for a wow token that sells for 300g, hows it any different than someone that farms 300g by selling Mara runs? Time is money, both in game and out.

In retail if you post a token on the AH you’re guaranteed to get the gold even if someone doesn’t buy it. If your auction ends with no buyout the item is deleted and the game sends you gold for it. Do you not understand how this works?

Stop shilling it’s not the same and for your information Classic is all about gate keeping. I’m sure someone of your high IQ can only understand that and us neck beards are just too dense. When I kill Lord Kazzak this week I’ll try and think of you casuals who might never get a shot.

I didn’t realize no one was allowed to have a dissenting opinion to your own, my liege. Apologies for upsetting the crown prince.

The same principal applies though - the friend didn’t ā€œworkā€ for it.

It doesn’t matter how the friend gets it - whether through me or a token or another random stranger.

The whole argument here that I’ve seen has been about ā€œworkingā€ for what people ā€œdeserveā€ - and somehow, if someone gets something in a different way that requires less in-game work - it completely dimishes their own work - the whole notion is absurd.

Pathetic how you retail players want to infect Classic with tokens just to raid log like the casuals you are.

gdkp and gold loot right runs already exist. i don’t disagree that they could increase.

You can’t solo all the content - that’s correct

but we’re not here playing for others’ entertainment, we’re playing for our own.

I always thought of the phrase/words neck beard as derogatory? Do you actually embrace it?

That’s rich.

Honestly people are already buying gold and Blizz isn’t going to crack down on them. I know a guy who buys gold and has spent over 30k on gdkp runs to gear up his rogue and warrior in BIS. Tokens aren’t going to change much of what is already going on.

We can’t stop them. But we can stop supporting them.
